I grew up in Tiskilwa, Bureau County, IL as did my husband and we grew up on farms. We currently live in North Chesterfield, Va as retirees and enjoy our free time. I have been doing genealogy for 40 years and it is still my favorite pastime along with jigsaw puzzles and gardening. I love to help other folks and have made a new connection with a cousin in NE and we think she just discovered our 6th and 7th generation grandparents.
We love to travel and spend time with our grandchildren.
Find a Grave is a great service and I have found so many names that are a part of our family history and love finding an obituary with the memorial. I appreciate and thank all the folks who have photographed the Bureau County cemeteries and also want to give a shout out to the Bureau County Genealogical Society in Princeton. They do a fantastic job and have so many resources to help with research.
The photo above is the old Tiskilwa High School which sat where the former Tiskilwa Grade School is located as you come into town from the north. One of my great grandfather's was a janitor there and I was told he always had a lovely flower bed at the front entrance. Maybe I inherited some of his gardening genes.
