My genealogical passion was sparked many years ago when Roots was first on tv. Back then, as many of you know, you had to do it the old fashioned way . . . . Writing to court houses . . . . Distant relatives . . . Visiting cemeteries . . . . Going to libraries and reading microfilm to find that elusive nugget on a census record. But through that I gained a lot of knowledge from people who actually knew the people I was researching. I treasured that correspondence and still have it . . . . And so many of those people are long gone. Now things are easier (sometimes) . . . . My passion has not wained and I still love meandering through cemeteries and recording information for others and helping others figure out their own family tree. My graduation present to myself was to be able to join the Daughters of the American Revolution and was lucky enough to be a charter member of Taos Mountain Chapter, NMSODAR. Pat Keenan
