Many Thanks
Dan, Thanks again for your beautiful photographs of our dear family friends, who were Uncle and Aunt to me, in San Jacinto. It leaves me peaceful and happy to see their markers in such good shape and with flowers. Beautiful job.

RE: Florence Towner Parents
No worries, Dan! If I had a dollar for every misstep I made in genealogy I'd be a much richer person :)

I like the bio change. I hope it does not offend relatives of Ernest Gamble, but it is the truth. It appears he had little to no contact with her after her birth and she isn't mentioned in his obit. There is little doubt she considered Mason Mowry her true father.

Happy hunting to you! I appreciate the care you put into your memorials here. I try to have the same approach, as I think this site's most important function is helping fellow genealogists uncover links to their families' pasts.

RE: Florence G. Towner Edits
Hi Dan,
I believe Florence Towner is a Gamble because her mother, Nina Mable West, married Ernest Reid Gamble in Greene County, Iowa on 01 Jan 1907, according to records at Florence was born about 9 months later, on 14 Oct 1907. Her mother Nina did not marry Mason Mowry until 24 Mar 1909, when Florence was a year and a half old.

There's no doubt, however, that Mason Mowry raised Florence basically from infancy, and Florence did use his name from very early childhood. In the sense of being a dad, Mason Mowry is most definitely her father...I just believe that Ernest Reid Gamble is her biological father because of the math.

That said, I have no issue with listing Mason Mowry as her father in her memorial. She is a distant cousin of mine, but I did not know her in life. I can certainly take down the edit request if you'd prefer.
