I have been hooked on genealogy for about 60 years. I have traveled from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas and California. When DNA research became available years ago, I sent in 2 oldest living relative's DNA for testing. That resulted in my being very productive in unraveling all the mystery surrounding my Thornton by DNA family. My great grandfather changed his name in 1895, therefore there is a whole State of an assumed name who are Thornton by DNA. If you are at a dead end, try DNA testing. Without it, I would have probably never found all my ancestors!
