Historian and genealogist. I have been doing genealogy on both sides of the Atlantic for over 27 years. My work on Find A Grave is NOT a hobby, but a service to others.

I majored in history at Duke Univ., did graduate work in history at the Univ. of South Carolina, graduated from the Univ. of Florida Law School and practiced law for 30 years, much of it in the land title industry. I have an EFM certificate from the School of Theology, University of the South.

Through my mother, I am a ninth generation member of the Weybright (sometimes spelled Waybright) Family in America, a member of the First Families of Ohio and a direct descendant of Capt. Martin Weybright III, of the Lancaster County (PA.) Militia. who is on the DAR patriots list and paradoxically was a member of the pacifist German Baptist Brethren (Church of the Brethren). His father, Martin II and grandparents, Martin I and Margaretha, had arrived in Philadelphia in 1730 from Germany aboard the ship Loyal Judith and settled in Lancaster.

My grandfather, W E Durr, M.D. practiced in Glencoe, Ohio, from after World War I until his death in 1947. In the course of his practice, he delivered many babies, including my mother and one of my brothers. I have over 1,300 of his Physician's Birth Records, but there are probably many more records that I do not have. I put these birth records into 4 spiral bound books and gave the original books to the Ohio Genealogical Society's Library in Mansfield, Ohio, gave one copy to the Genealogical Section of the Hutton Library in Barnesville, Ohio, and kept one copy for myself.

Through my great grandfather, Cornelius "Neal" Rice (1844-1933), I am a member of Civil War Families of Ohio. During Sherman's March to the Sea, he was captured at Irwin's Crossroads, Georgia, taken to the county courthouse/jail in Sandersville and then to the county jail in Milledgeville, then the state capital of Georgia. He escaped from the jail and walked home to Greenville, Ohio.

Through my father, I am a first generation American and a dual citizen of the USA and the Republic of Ireland.

Names in my family tree are: Calvert, Varty, Moore, Durr. Rice, Burgan, Weybright or Waybright, Koontz, Fetter, Mehring and lots more.

Places in my tree are Stuart and Bradenton, Florida; Belmont, Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Holmes & Wayne counties, Ohio; Ohio County, West Virginia; Carroll County, Maryland; Lancaster, Somerset & Adams counties, Pennsylvania; Suffolk, Norfolk, Middlesex, Worcester & Plymouth counties Massachusetts; Counties Armagh, Antrim, Down, Dublin & Monaghan, Ireland; the West Riding of Yorkshire, England; Southern Germany, and more.

NAME PREFIXES: If a person has more than one prefix, please add the most significant one, e.g. if a person served as a private for a few years and practiced medicine for 30 or 40 years, the prefix "Dr." would be more significant than the prefix "Pvt."
