Donnie: So are you part of the group that was turned down for Federal Acknowledgment recently? Nancy's niece Annie Martin-Thompson, is one of the progenitors of the Mount Tabor Indian Community. We were established in 1845 and believe the six remaining extended families can meet the requirements of the 7 criteria of OFA.
I am the current Chairman of the MTIC and we discussed your group at length lately. Would like to discuss it further, if you are with the Georgia Cherokees. We have a Facebook site "Mount Tabor Indian Community" that has quite a bit of information if you are interested. It is a closed site, but you can request to join.
Thank you for your response

Have you seen his mother's obituary? Perhaps that would give you some other clues.

His mother married Phillip Rice Whitcher, who would have been my 6th cousin. So, while I am not directly related to him, we do share family! Also, someone had entered him originally as Jack Daniel, with a lengthy obituary and a photo. In theory, at some point the Findagrave administrators would merge the two memorials, and all the information would be together, gravestone photo, photo, and obituary. I added the Jack as that was how the original entry had been done, hoping that would facilitate the merger eventually.
|Jackie Weaver||My Grandmother|
I can't thank you enough in posting the photo of my grandmother's grave. I did not know much about her. She died when my mother was 6. Mama died in 1992 at age 92, so decades went past since her mother died, and I regretted not getting more information about my grandmother before my mama passed away. Today when I found her grave, thanks to your dedication to taking the photos, I was so happy and for once felt a connection to a grandmother who I never had the honor of knowing. You are my new hero! My next step will be to visit my ancestor's graves as well as my grandmother's resting place. I am for once feeling connected to a family that was long forgotten. Thank you so much for making this possible.

Thank you so much,
