This may be the same George S. Cowan
Hello Donnie,

I was searching records of WWII bomber group members at the American Air Museum website, based in England and found a record for a George S. Cowan. Not only was he was co-pilot and navigator on the B-17 G 446087, but he survived the plane's downing and subsequent capture and internment as a POW in Germany. The record is here:

My uncle, Marcus M. Finley was on the same bird and just passed in 2012.

Thanks for posting George's information. Are you a relative?

David Welcom Martin
Donnie – David Welcome Martin is my Great Great Grandfather. I have seen copies of the Stillwell Bible showing the same descendants of David Martin as a Bible listing in Sarah Ann (Martin) Wheeler’s Bible and one by her sister Mary E (Martin) Northcott . In 1948 Sarah (my Great Grandmother) wrote a family biography of sorts talking about David Martin and her mother Rachel (Osborn) Martin (David’s 2nd wife). Sarah and a daughter also drew a very rough chart with “Cidney Whitley” as the mother of David. Though Sidney was spelled differently I think it is pretty good for a 91 year old woman. Considering this was made long before people used computers to copy from one to another tree on Ancestry I have to think she was right. I have gone back and verified the 1820 and 1830 U.S. Censuses for John Martin in Monroe Co., KY and they matched perfectly age wise for John and Sidney and their children at the time.
I know there were a lot of Martin’s with “Welcome” somewhere in their names but I have been unable to tie James or Joseph Martin into my family. John Martin did have a brother named James but I have nothing more on him. If you have some additional information I am open to correcting my tree if necessary.
You mentioned you descend from the Martin family how do you tie in? Thanks for your contact.
Best Regards – John Russell

RE: Deceased FAG Volunteer
Hi Donnie,
Bud transferred some from around Stone Mountain were I was born and lived until 1987, a number of military and from graves around Jackson County where I now live. I got so excited with each new batch because lots of the ones from Stone Mountain I knew. He will be great missed and leaves behind an amazing legacy for present and future generations to enjoy and benefit from all the memorials he created. Great Christian man.
Best regards, Patsy
