I am researching the Coe, Dana, Griffith, Hilton, McDowell, Parkison, Parr, Scott, and Whiting families who moved from New England and southeastern Pennsylvania to western Pennsylvania, Ohio and northern Indiana in the late 1700s to early 1800s. Most descendants of these pioneers lived primarily in Washington, Beaver, and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania; Ashland, Richland, Wayne, Huron, and Athens counties in Ohio; and Allen, Wells, and Porter counties in Indiana. Many descendants moved further west to Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Colorado in the mid-late 1800s with a few going to the west coast by the new rail lines.
