After rechckinf my records, I realized that both of those memorials were erroneous. He is in fact at Mount Zion Cemetery in Ashton, Mason, West Virginia. I am so sorry for the confusion. Sharon

RE: Franklin P. Marquis
Thanks --- then you would be a very very distant relative to my husband Ron.

RE: Franklin P. Marquis
Yes. I am doing a family tree of the Marcus/Marquis/Marquess family. There are a few still spelling the name Marquess which appears to be the original spelling - most changed to Marquis by early 1700s. William George Marquess came to Frederick County, Virginia --- he had at least 5 sons. Most went to Cross Creek, Washington County, PA then spread out into Ohio, KY, IN, That branch of the family appears to use Marquis. One son stayed in Opequon, Frederick Co, VA (south of Winchester, VA). Only this branch of the family changed to Marcus. The family story is that the young children were not able to write the letter Q so the teacher changed it to Marcus. William had a daughter Mary that married John Wilson (who was a school teacher). Mary's tombstone (1720 - 1742) in the Opequon cemetery has Marcus --- but Marquis was still used for several more years .

RE: Darbyshire
I cannot read first name neither. I've made q request to the creator of the memorial page to show "unknown" for first name and to show date of birth as August 21, 188 and date of death as August 25, 1860. Thanks again for your efforts.
