Bio and Links
Bio Photo As a genealogy researcher for more than thirty years my passion has taken me on quite a family history journey. The most distressing thing during this journey has been how many gravemarkers have been destroyed by time and the elements and by vandalism, but especially those graves that were never marked.

If I possessed all the money needed, I would see to it that each and every unmarked grave was given the rememberance that person deserves. So, I am happy to contribute to Find-A-Grave. I encourage others to do so as well.

My roots are in the Heart of Dixie. I have a keen interest in knowing about the soldiers of the 16th Regiment of Alabama Infantry, CSA, the 1st AL & TN Independent Vidette Cavalry, USA. I encourage anyone who has an ancestor in either of these regiments to please submit information about them to me for inclusion in my research.

Yocum Family Cemetery, Tuscumbia, AL
Hi Carolyn,

Thank You for being a Find A Grave member and your contributions to this community.

Do you know of this Yocum Family Cemetery? I have heard there are no markers and the plot is on private land? A fallen down fence the only marker to the cemetery?

I see that you are family of Jesse and Joshua Yocum. I am also related but at a distance. Jesse is a Great Grandfather a few times removed, and Joshua is a Great Uncle a few times removed.
It's always a pleasure to find more cousins.

Since Joshua Washington "Wash" Yocum, a Civil War Veteran, Confederate Private, is interred there, I think he is qualified to get some sort of marker from the gov't. I would hate to lose the original burial location for them.
Have you looked into this or have any other info on this matter?

Thanks again,
Bill Gunn

Spring Valley Station
I believe Spring Valley Station is not Kirk Chapel. When we were there 6 years ago, there were only a few markers. Cemetery is on the right at the junction of Co Rd 52.
If you want to discuss this farther you can email me.

William Lane Duncan and James Duncan
Hi Carolyn,

I was able connect William to Andrew by creating a new Memorial, that connects him to many generations below. The person who entered this original memorial has disabled their messages. I have a feeling they just surveyed the cemetery.

But I have a question for you. I've been researching the Duncan line, between William Lane Duncan (1779-1850) and his father. I see that you've connected William to James Duncan. Do you have proof of this connection that I could add to my records? I have his father as John Duncan but have no proof of this connection.

Thank you! My email is bliss_kaye@hotmail.com

Caroly,
Do you have any idea what John Flanagan wife name was?
John Flanagan 1767-1840-45? Find A Grave # 83575168
I found a photo of them but only know she was a Cherokee woman.
Thanks,
Bob
