As a genealogy researcher for more than thirty years my passion has taken me on quite a family history journey. The most distressing thing during this journey has been how many gravemarkers have been destroyed by time and the elements and by vandalism, but especially those graves that were never marked.|
If I possessed all the money needed, I would see to it that each and every unmarked grave was given the rememberance that person deserves. So, I am happy to contribute to Find-A-Grave. I encourage others to do so as well.
My roots are in the Heart of Dixie. I have a keen interest in knowing about the soldiers of the 16th Regiment of Alabama Infantry, CSA, the 1st AL & TN Independent Vidette Cavalry, USA. I encourage anyone who has an ancestor in either of these regiments to please submit information about them to me for inclusion in my research.

I was glad to transfer the above memorial to you since she is a relative of yours. Thanks for your contributing to Find A Grave.

Sorry I have been days getting back to you but Find A Grave has been down and I could not access. I am going to transfer the memorial to you since you obviously have a connection and I was just out for a day of "playing in the grave yard." Thanks for your contact.

|Cindy Stokes||Claude Peebles Jr.|
Location: Spring Creek Cemetery,in Philadelphia, Neshoba County, Mississippi. I am the grand-niece of Claude "Jack" Peebles Jr, who passed on April 28, 2014. When his death date is inscribed and his military foot stone is placed I will go make the picture and post it as soon as his immediate family let's me know it's done. I did not claim it as I do not know when it will be ready. If there are other family members there I will photograph also but unlikely for he is buried beside his 2nd wife who was from that area and member of that church. He is one of fifteen children, Sadly there are only 3 sisters remaining at the time of this post. Cedarlawn Cemetery holds his sisters: Della Jane Peebles Carter (my grandmother), Lukie Jay Carter (Her birth year is wrong should be 1915), Alma L Peebles Eakes and Erma Hazel Ladd. His brothers: James Peebles, Daniel Webster Peebles, Cecil Norris Peebles, Edd Peebles, Henry Ford Peebles (not sure if his inscription is complete yet) Parents: Claud and Roberta Ray Peebles. there are other ancestor graves in the oldest section there also. Other Peebles family can be found at Spring Hill Cemetery, in Tucker, Neshoba County, Mississippi. Claud Sr's parents; Thomas J Peebles 'Tom" and Anna Mariah Deweese Peebles (Annie M) and some of their children are also located there including 2 infant graves, which are marked with a piece of wood, one unknown with name born estimated 1901-1903 and other Alice C Born 1899 died before 1910.
There are photos posted for all the above with exception of : Claude Jr, Henry Ford and 2 infants.
I hope I haven't confused you and if you need further information please contact me.

No, The 1st Alabama Calvary was formed of Union men from 35 Alabama counties, and eight other Confederate states. Although there were men of the Alabama Vidette Calvary, mostly were from the Bridgeport/Stevenson Alabama area in NE Alabama and Tennessee.
You can read more about the 1st Alabama Calvary at http://www.1stalabamacavalryusv.com/1sthistory.aspx
My GGG Grandfather Stoax Shundy Spain was a scout in this unit.

Just sent an e-mail to your e-mail address. Sorry for delay, been out of town and not on findagrave a while. Pat
Thank you for your requests for Transfers of your family. The transfers are done. One of my goals in Find A Grave is helping family find family. Blessings ~ Christina
Kirk's Chapel Cemetery was next to the church. There were one or two markers but did not at that time write down the names.
Spring Valley Station was farther down on other side of road.
Joy Favor went out there several weeks ago and found the church but all the markers and land have been cleared and signs posted, no trespassing. The cemetery is lost and it is a shame.
