As a genealogy researcher for more than thirty years my passion has taken me on quite a family history journey. The most distressing thing during this journey has been how many gravemarkers have been destroyed by time and the elements and by vandalism, but especially those graves that were never marked.|
If I possessed all the money needed, I would see to it that each and every unmarked grave was given the rememberance that person deserves. So, I am happy to contribute to Find-A-Grave. I encourage others to do so as well.
My roots are in the Heart of Dixie. I have a keen interest in knowing about the soldiers of the 16th Regiment of Alabama Infantry, CSA, the 1st AL & TN Independent Vidette Cavalry, USA. I encourage anyone who has an ancestor in either of these regiments to please submit information about them to me for inclusion in my research.
Please use the EDIT feature to make corrections or additions to memorials...also please be kind enough to provide documentation for any additional info requested. Please do not ask for corrections or additions in the comment section - it is very time consuming and there is a possiblity of error. Thank you very kindly.
Carolyn Murray Greer

Hi Carolyn I'm not sure if I updated you or not on the Casey cemetery. I know that a group went out and had a clean up day there back in the winter. I have been out of town working for a long time so I have been out of touch and I wasn't able to attend. But once a cemetery is added to the list they rotate around the county working on the worst first and down to the better ones. So it will be in the rotation now and it is on record and no longer a lost cemetery. The committee also maps those graves during the cleanup. That information can be obtained by the Lauderdale County Library.

|Tim Casey||Elizabeth Duckett Casey|
I received your request about transfer, Elizabeth Duckett Casey is a sister to my ggggg grandmother Charity Duckett Whitten. I also descend from Gen Levi's Casey's brother Christopher. By reading your request and going to your website I see that you are a direct descendant of Gen Levi Casey and Elizabeth Duckett Casey this is correct yes. If that being the case I will transfer the memorial to you as they are your Casey and Duckett line. I have done a lot of compiling and collecting on all the Casey lines. I do have one question how did researchers find that Gen Levi Casey middle name was Garrett? I have seen this over the years but no one has been able to give me the source for it. My gg grandfather was named Levi Casey named after his gggg Uncle Gen Levi Casey.

Vicki Barron Kruschwitz has done a wonderful analysis of the Barron Clans. This is the link to the Clan 2 analysis:
You will see on page 4 that she even addresses how the mistake was made of attaching these Barrons to the Barrons of County Waterford, Ireland.
This is a link to her web site that has a ton of information with reports that cover William & Prudence Barron and their descendants.
You may find of particular interest under the related links the article titled "Sorting men named John & Samuel Barron in early GA." There are some duplicates on Find A Grave of the early Georgia Barrons. I know I saw one this morning that had attached the Samuel that died in 1826 in Jones county as the son of William and Prudence but his parents have yet to be identified. William and Purdence's son Samuel (1767-1801) was married to Jane Miller (1772-1835).
There is also a link at the bottom of her web page to the Barron DNA Project web page. That has information on all 5 of the separate Barron clans. If you hit a problem of have a question just let me know.
The old history of the Barrons being descendants of the Waterford, Ireland Barrons has been proven false through DNA. The William Barron (1740-1788) Memorial #23502532 is related to the Barrons of York and Union Counties in South Carolina. This Barron line is actually Ulster Scots.
