Bio

I was born in St. Louis, grew up in University City, Missouri. I attended Knox College, the American University of Beirut, and the University of Michigan, where I got a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. I have owned and operated Camp Drummond in Drummond Wisconsin, taught at Haigazian College in Beirut, Lebanon, been an Education Specialist for the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, and been the Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Baltimore, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) I am now retired and living in Phoenix, Maryland, with my wife, Marilyn Martin Forbes.

The Forbes family has vacationed in Star Lake, Wisconsin, since 1908, and my son, Craig, and I are the webmasters for www.starlake.org, which tells the story of that town and our family's part in that story.

My father grew up in Alton, Illinois, as did his parents and grandparents. As a result, almost all of my paternal ancestors for more than a century are buried in the city cemetery in Alton.
