Now my interest in genelaogy goes back to as a child when my father and I would go for walks and I wanted to go through a local graveyard to look for the oldest tombstone.

I was born in Peoria, IL but my family left the area and did not return until early in my seventh grade year moving to Dunlap, IL., then attending high school and college in Illinois. Jobs had me eventually becoming an East Coast resident.

The Peoria-area names I specailize in are; Abbott, Burns, Callery, Daley, Delaney, Fulton, Gallup, McDonna, McMullen, Moore, Ross and Sheen.

A proud member of One Foot In The Grave.

Walter Francis Byrnes
Hello Mike,

I moved into my home at West Main in Princeville Illinois and later found W.F. Byrnes inscribed into the basement wall. Ever since finding this I have wanted to know if he actually lived at my current residence or did some work in the basement at one time. I started my search by first trying to find his grave but came up empty handed as there is no headstone for Walter. I did find both of his wives at the township cemetery and then his parents and all of his siblings at St Mary's Cemetary across town but never Walter himself. I did discover that a Donald Byrnes is buried in Rock Island and I believe this to be one of his sons, however, I could not find a detailed obituary. Walter had another son by the name of Edward but I have been unsuccessful at locating him. I hope to eventually contact a living relative to see if any photos of Walter exist and find out where he lived. Can you point me in the right direction?

You're welcome. I always believe family should be maintained by family no matter how far out the lines are & I'm not a big fan of following guide lines.
Will get to your photo requests this week-end.

Laura Dailey Mitchell
I reviewed your suggested correction and found it lacking. The Laura Mitchell in Christ Church Cemetery is 13 years older than the parents you suggested I link. Her actual parents, Charles and Lovina (Jones) Dailey, are already linked to her memorial.

Glad you like the pictures. I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out Balcom's plot layout. Do you have any kind of map? My husband is from Ionia and has many family members in Balcom. We find ourselves wandering around hoping to find them then trying to remember for the next time! Any help would be appreciated!

I will be visiting Woodlawn Cemetery and will attempt to get a photo for you if you can provide plot information: ie, section, lot and if there is a memorial.

RE: Female Streitmatter
You're most welcome. I suspect that I'll have more edits and additions to the memorials you have in Streitmatter Cemeteries. Maybe some unsolved mysteries? Best to you.
