My ancestors and relatives began arriving from Norway in 1846, many initially settling (as so many did) in Wisconsin before putting down roots in Iowa and the Dakota Territory. One of the family lines, however, originated in Denmark, much to the shock of the family.
I do some advanced historical research into the Norwegian records and will accept questions from those stuck with their own research.
RE: Kittleson Family History Hi James. Knud and Tonni were my 3x great-grandparents. Their fourth child, Svend, is my great-great grandfather. I started my genealogy research a couple of years ago and found out quite a lot via Judi Kittleson of Iowa and through the biennial Kittleson reunion. However, I'm always interested in learning more.
We know the farm (Fonnebo) and church (Uvdal Stave Church) where they come from in Rollag, Norway. We also know that they came to America in about 1852 with their two young boys, Kittle and Svend, who died either on the way over or before Knud and Tonni settled in St. Ansgar, IA. Before their move to IA, they live in Rock County, WI. That's just a little snippet of what I know about their emigration to America.
Thank you for offering to share information with me. I'm looking forward to reading it.
RE: Memorial# 54727408 Hilda Wenz Thank you for the additions/corrections for Hilda Wenz. I am not related but my grandparents were neighbors and good friends of the Wenz family. It was to my grandparents' house that Edward was riding to use the phone. I knew Hilda when I was a child because my mother used to help her clean house and would occasionally take her baked goods.
