I live in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas although I grew up in Springfield, Missouri. I have been an amateur genealogist for over 40 years mostly involving my family lines that settled in southwest Missouri in the 1830's to 1840's. My primary families from the area are SWEARENGIN, BENCH, KERSHNER HARGIS, STEELE, MOSES, BOOKOUT and BROWN. Most of these families came from Tennessee, North Carolina or Virginia as did most settlers in southern Missouri.
