My step mother started taking me to the cemetery when I was a teenager. All her family came from Patrick Co., Virginia, so they are buried up around Dry Pond or Holt Ridge. I've always loved history and found there was so much of it here in the cemetery. |
My family names are:
Needham (Surry Co. NC),
Adams (Patrick Co. VA & Surry Co. NC),
Hunter (Surry Co. NC)
Wear (Blount Co. TN, Cherokee Co. AL, Bradley Co. AR, Bexar Co. TX )
Grant & Walker (SC to Habersham Co. GA)
Bowles (Green Co. GA)
Munson, Watts,Patton, Patty, Padier,Goins. (La, OK, Ato Co. TX Bexar Co. TX)
Holt, Goings, Goins, Bowman, Frye........
and many others that I do for friends and family. I have found wonderful cousins I never new I had.
I am currently working on the families of Gonzales CO. TX. Am also working on the Hillside cemetery in Cuero Dewitt Co. TX and other cemeteries in Dewitt Co.
I've been adding the census records more for my benefit but also for those looking for family members. With so many families to research it helps to keep them straight in my head.
I live in Gonzales TX and I am documenting the City Cemeteries here in town. If you have any information on people buried here I would love to add it. I will be happy to transfer any of your family over to you or take pictures for you. I'm not picky about how close a kin they were. Just that you maintain them.
I'm in Surry Co. NC and Patrick Co. VA once a year and will be happy to look for headstones for anyone while I'm up there. I also have the cemetery book for Patrick Co. VA, and the Surry Co. NC Heritage book 1 & 2 and the History of Gonzales Co. book.
Feel free to use any of my pictures or research. They are there for all to share.

Thank you for sharing their memorial numbers with me. Linked their daughter to the correct memorial numbers last evening. I will delete the memorials that I posted.
Your time and efforts are deeply appreciated. You are always wonderful to work with. You provide family members with helpful information and burial locations of their dearly departed family members.

I forgot to say Thank You for notifying the Veterans Affairs about linking Reason and his sons to show their relationships.
|dtpolasek||RE: Reason A. Thetford|
I don't know who Robert W. Thetford or Carl D. Thetford are but they may be descendents of one of Reason's brothers. His parents were Dennis and Hester Thetford and they had 7 sons, no daughters. Dennis was given a headright title to lands in the Mercer Colony around 1847 and so was his oldest son, Robert G. Thetford, when he turned 18 years old. Here is the familysearch.org link to the 1850 census for Dennis and Hester https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MXL2-GHP
Two links for Elsworth and Cora that I have found are https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M29B-9JM where Cora is listed as Cordelia. Reason and Emily are listed as living with them. This 1910 census was the same year that Emily died. The record I found that lists Cora by her correct name of Cora Cornelia (not Cordelia) is here, https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K78R-F93 which is the death record of her youngest son Robert, who was born after the 1910 census. I have yet to find record of her or Elsworth's deaths or where they are buried.

Reason A. Thetford and Emily E. Covington Thetford that are buried at the Gonzales Memorial Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas were my great-grandparents. Their son, David Allen Thetford is buried at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in San Antonio. He didn't use David, he went by Allen. His wife, my grandmother, Della Mae Thetford, is buried with him. My father, Robert Daniel Thetford and my uncle, Harry Richard Thetford, along with his wife Muretta Channel Thetford are also buried at Fort Sam Houston. I'm including this information in case there's a way on Find A Grave to link relatives.
