My step mother started taking me to the cemetery when I was a teenager. All her family came from Patrick Co., Virginia, so they are buried up around Dry Pond or Holt Ridge. I've always loved history and found there was so much of it here in the cemetery. |
My family names are:
Needham (Surry Co. NC),
Adams (Patrick Co. VA & Surry Co. NC),
Hunter (Surry Co. NC)
Wear (Blount Co. TN, Cherokee Co. AL, Bradley Co. AR, Bexar Co. TX )
Grant & Walker (SC to Habersham Co. GA)
Bowles (Green Co. GA)
(My husbands family) Munson, Watts,Patton, Patty, Padier,Goins. (La, OK, Ato Co. TX Bexar Co. TX)
(My Step-mothers family) Holt, Goings, Goins, Bowman, Frye........
and many others that I do for friends and family. I have found wonderful cousins I never new I had.
Some of the obits I've posted may be offensive to some but we have to look at them has a part of history and ignorance. I hope they will help someone in their research, to connect to a family member.
I will be happy to transfer any of your family over to you or take pictures for you. I'm not picky about how close a kin they were. Just that you maintain them.
I'm in Surry Co. NC and Patrick Co. VA once a year and will be happy to look for headstones for anyone while I'm up there. I also have the cemetery book for Patrick Co. VA, and the Surry Co. NC Heritage book 1 & 2 and the History of Gonzales Co. book.
Feel free to use any of my pictures or research. They are there for all to share. Please do not add death certificates or pictures of obits to memorial.
Please use the edit tab when making corrections or links. It goes a lot faster. Thank you
Thank you everyone in helping with links and dates and corrections. I some times spell words out of order "Irlen Syndrome" so please forgive me and thanks again, for your helping with correction's and up dates.

I noticed that you added a memorial for a "Mrs James Thackston" in the Wrightsboro Cemetery based on an obituary in the Gonzales Inquirer (Nov. 25, 1905). I believe this is my 3x great grandmother Eliza A. Thackston. Do you by any chance have a copy of the obituary?

Thank you for the transfer. I am beginning to think everyone buried in Gonzales is related one way or another.

Roland Henry Wiseman Jr. is not buried at Andrew Wesley Chapel Cemetery. He is buried at Meadowlawn Memorial Park in San Antonio, Texas.
