I began my genealogy researching after my father mentioned that he wanted to know what happened to one of his aunts on his father's side. He didn't know his father since he passed away in 1935 just after he was born. He didn't know a thing about his grandparents on his father's side either, so my search began. I wanted to locate information, any information that I could gather for him. |
After I received marriage and death certificates for some of the relatives, names started fitting into place. I found it interesting and intriguing. The journey has taken so far 3 years and I still have a long way to go.
I am now searching for locations of graves/headstones for many of my relatives so that I can let my father know where they are resting.
I am hoping that this site can help me find the relatives long lost. Maybe some of the family headstones that I add can help others in their search, as well.
Family names include: Thompson, East, Roope, Roop, Rupe, Hudson, Wolfe, Loftis, Lewis, Wilbourne, Wilburn, Wilborn, Nance, White, Bond, and many others.
I am having difficulty in locating graves for many relatives. I know where they passed away but where they are resting is a mystery. Maybe some day they will no longer be mysteries.

Thank you so much for the transfer! As always, it is greatly appreciated! Keep up the excellent work.
|Darrell Landrum||RE: Lowell Hudson|
Hi Connie, yes indeed there is a bit of confusion with the names of the cemetery. Glad you did that. I already posted memorials for his parents. If they are family, just let me know and I will transfer over to you.
|Darrell Landrum||Lowell Hudson|
Hello, I posted a couple of photos to his memorial that you have posted. He is buried beside his parents. There seems to be an issue with the name of the cemetery. Maybe ask the admins here if they can combine the Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery memorials with the Childrey Cemetery postings?

Dorthy "Dot" is still living, also. I do not have her married name on hand, but she's on the Eastern Shore.
I just found this. She is my father, William Baugh's, aunt. My great aunt. I used to play on her electric organ, that sat by the front door.
I have the whole grave yard w/ pictures and family tree. We did not know she had passed away, until I made a trip out to cemetery in 2007, I believe.We lost touch after she was moved to a home. None of my moms cards were returned, nor did we receive any responses, but after I made the visit out there, I was able to tell mom and dad that she had passed away.
As she was a Baugh, Harris Baugh is the last known to be living of that bunch.Sorry Nancy, too My father, William E, Walter A, Betty Jane (BJ) and Mary Lou of William Edward Baugh (1957 d) and Betty Baugh, she passed last year.
I am Debbie Baugh.

Hi...I left an edit to add her parents.
I took a picture request for her and added the family monument, but there wasn't an individual marker...

|Jackie Williams||Amanda Roop|
This person is my 2nd great grandmother. For some unknown reason, Ancestry.com picked up from the 1860 census the name of a farm laborer as the husband of Amanda. She was listed as a widow on the census, she was the wife of the late Jesse Toney, therefore her name is and always will be Amanda Jarrell Toney. I have her birth year as 1815, the day of death is correct. Jesse Toney died in 1857.
