Bio and Links
Bio Photo I began my genealogy researching after my father mentioned that he wanted to know what happened to one of his aunts on his father's side. He didn't know his father since he passed away in 1935 just after he was born. He didn't know a thing about his grandparents on his father's side either, so my search began. I wanted to locate information, any information that I could gather for him.

After I received marriage and death certificates for some of the relatives, names started fitting into place. I found it interesting and intriguing. The journey has taken so far 3 years and I still have a long way to go.

I am now searching for locations of graves/headstones for many of my relatives so that I can let my father know where they are resting.

I am hoping that this site can help me find the relatives long lost. Maybe some of the family headstones that I add can help others in their search, as well.

Family names include: Thompson, East, Roope, Roop, Rupe, Hudson, Wolfe, Loftis, Lewis, Wilbourne, Wilburn, Wilborn, Nance, White, Bond, and many others.

I am having difficulty in locating graves for many relatives. I know where they passed away but where they are resting is a mystery. Maybe some day they will no longer be mysteries.

G A Zirkle, Sr. #77809528
I love to read the old newspapers at the Library of Congress website. Today, I found a little article in the Clinch Valley News (Jeffersonville, VA) of 12/1/1916 about the marriage of G. A. & Myrtle Zirkle. The article contains some family information you might find interesting.

Could you move your pic from here to #18471055? I've already ask the creator to move the memorial to Highland. Once that's done, I'll ask Find A Grave to delete mine. Thanks, Denise<><

Memorial 135621886 Gary Brunner
Please remove the photo of the grave marker. Gary is my brother and died from a tractor trailer incident. I placed the memorial for him and the grave marker is distressing to view. Thank you.

RE: Gladys Irene Haynes
I did find a Gladys Irene Haynes in Franklin County in the 1930 census...she was black, and 3 years old at the time. This might be her.

I feel badly that the obit didn't tell of any relatives etc. and that she was not buried where it said. Maybe the funeral home can release the information on where they actually took her.

Death Location for Walter E Allen
Find A Grave Memorial# 77871504 - Walter E Allen and Beulah Delores Dean - Census records indicate that the couple lived their entire adult life in Bristol, Sullivan, Tennessee. There is a City Directory on Ancestry that is mistakenly indexed as Bristol, Virginia in which the Allen's are listed multiple times. The street address for the Allen's in the Directory is exactly the same address as listed in the 1940 Census, Bristol, Sullivan, Tennessee. Also, the Find-A-Grave entry for Walter E Allen indicates the death place incorrectly as Bristol, Virginia. The hospital he died in (Bristol Memorial Hospital) is located in Bristol, Sullivan, Tennessee.

Rocky Mount Baptist Church
I noticed that you have added a grave to this cemetery in mecklenburg, va. This cemetery is listed twice with the other entry having about 46 entries and the one you used has only 3 graves entered.
