Here (in my photo) I stand behind my Great GrandMother's monument (Angeline Patrick who was only 20 yrs old when she died.) She is resting at one of many Patrick Cemeteries off HWY80 in Bearville, Ky. The Hamlets back in those days had many private family cemeteries scattered around the area and that's where she is. Her daughter (my Grandmother) had the heterochromia gene. Simply put, she had a brown eye and blue eye, nothing more and excellent eyesight. It ran on the female side of the family. Angeline's sister also had two different colored eyes. In all the generations since then....nothing.

I am also a proud descendant of a ggg grand Aunt Narcissia from the paternal side who was a witch and possessed all the powers. This was validated by family, friends and neighbors in her life. Unfortunately, I got nothing.....

Never assume that two names on a monument means they were married.

A big thanks to my Irish and Scottish ancestors who brought the moonshine recipe from the homeland. Even though most of my ancestors were from Western Europe, Scotland, Ireland, England and the like, I am born and bred here. I am North American from the USA, Thank you Goddess. Eventually, we are all related. I have no problem making edits or transferring ownership of a memorial.

The next time someone goes to Thomas or Goodrich Cemetery let me know, I would love to go with you.

Just FYI: Common graves are not unusual. The process: They are cremated and each put in an individual container with name and date then stored at the funeral home until they have enough to warrant opening a new common grave. Maybe as many as 50 or more can be inurned together. Cemeteries record who went in each common grave so they should have a paper trail of where everyone is. This process is utilized for mostly paupers or others who can't afford the expense of funerals and burials for themselves or family members. I said mostly...some just don't want the expense or never made arrangements. Laws and procedures may vary in different states, but this is the gist of it. Here is a link for further info: https://www.inthelighturns.com/funeral-information/happens-uncollected-ashes. So...if you don't want to be cremated, then make arrangements for your burial or they will do it for you. It will be the most inexpensive way and that's cremation.

So, Are Graves Really 6 Feet Deep? No....

There is no federally mandated requirement or nationwide standard concerning the depth of gravesites in the United States; instead, each individual state governs grave depths within its borders, or leaves the matter up to cities, local municipalities, or even to the cemeteries.

Note: We used to be able to close out a photo request if reasonable attempts to fulfill it had failed. Not so now, I contacted FaG and they disabled that function due to abuse. They do believe it will be reinstated in the future but no exact date as of now. FaG did say you can contact the requester and ask them to close the request.

Note: Just because there isn't a headstone doesn't mean you can't get your photo. If you know where the grave site is, (you may need to visit the ofc for the exact spot or they can send someone out for you) put a vase of flowers where the headstone would be and get your photo. Don't use a rock or something equally ugly and just be sure to EXPLAIN IT TO THE REQUESTER IN THE CAPTION so they will understand the photo. No one has ever refused a photo yet and were always very thankful for the extra attention because not everyone has a headstone. Those are my favorite as I love the cold cases.

And finally "the switch dance."
I have to laugh at people who are against spanking. My parents whipped my butt and I learned the "Switch Dance." I didn't hate them and I didn't have trust issues with them because of it. I trusted I was in big trouble when I screwed up and did things my way! But I sure respected them. I learned what my boundaries were, and knew what would happen if I crossed them, I was tore up from the floor up. This is why kids nowadays have no respect for anyone.... I got this from the internet, repost if you like it...
