Born in Frederick and raised in rural Carroll County, Maryland, Sarah graduated from South Carroll High School there and went on to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Environmental Resources. After graduation from the University, Sarah served her church as a missionary in Austria. She there met her future husband, another missionary from Switzerland. They married in Kensington, MD. Sarah has lived in Maryland, Austria, Switzerland, Utah, California, New Hampshire, and Colorado. Sarah taught German, math, and environmental science for many years at the Academy for Science and Design in Nashua, NH and also enjoyed working in the summer as a forest technician for the NH Division of Forest and Lands. She has been interested in genealogical research and finding her ancestors since she was a teenager.
