Not a mega contributor of grave marker photos, my forte seems to have been digging up details about the earthly existence of pertinent individuals that they not be forgotten. Every life matters!

A Medical Librarian for 24+ years, I easily gravitated to genealogical research even before retirement. Much time and effort has gone into research of spouse #2's HILL and NONEN lines, plus allied families of the latter in metropolitan Detroit. Extensive research has also gone into my own maternal SKLAR, WENDELL and BETZ families, as well as the WATTS, JOHNSON, UTZ, SAPPINGTON and EILERMANN connections to my paternal STUDEBAKER line, which had been fairly well researched by others. Regarding the latter surname, I was heavily involved in the Studebaker Family National Association--which was founded in 1964--for 20 years (1999-2019). Then in late 2019, a chance meeting with the sister-in-law of a Cryderman motivated me to revisit a pertinent (spouse #1) ancestral line of CRYDERMAN family members in the Detroit area. Also discovered Find-A-Grave in 2010 and have been a "diligent digger" ever since.

The research is rewarding, especially when it corrects past errors, fills the gaps in earlier research, or adds previously undocumented members to the family tree. A person's existence is made more tangible when we can see his/her final resting place. Thanks to Find A Grave and myriads of local volunteers we have a way of honoring those family members and other loved ones who have gone before us; of preserving and sharing their human existence that they not be forgotten!
