Received in BSEd in Chemistry from Central Missouri St. College (University) in 1963. Received MA in Educational Measurement U of Iowa, 1967. Received PhD in Measurement and Statistics U of Iowa, 1969
Married Carol Anne Smith on June 8, 1963. Three daughters, Elizabeth, 1964, Susan, 1966, and Rebecca, 1969. Three grandsons Thomas Patrick and William Jackson (Jack) Gorman and Robert Wetherholt
