Ok. This is weird. What are Amelia Buckner and Samuel Buckner doing in Rochester NY?? And who are you people who know of them?

They are my great-grandparents and I knew that Amelia died in Luther. I went there looking for her grave and did not find it and now I'm doing this search online and here seems to be her headstone, rather large and it is said that Alma is buried with them. That is just so odd. I know of Alma and I knew her daughter pretty well. But how did they get from Michigan to Rochester? Any ideas?

RE: buckner photos
Thanks...They are Bennett Weiss (1854-1933) and Leah Weiss (1857-1914).

Sure...I just added a photo for Alma Buckner to the memorial that you created. I actually had taken a separate photo of her gravestone itself. (I have one for the Weiss's in that plot too, if you are interested...although it is not clear to me if or how they are related.)

Buckner @ Mount Hope
Hi. Mount Hope is buried under several feet of snow so no pics are possible at this time. But I looked in the cemetery records and came up w/ the following info. The Buckners share a plot with Bennett (d.1933) and Lena (d. 1914) Weiss. There are 3 Buckners there. Samuel (died in 1932 at age 78 in Miami Beach, Florida from acute myocarditis); Amelia (died in 1912 at age 54 in Luther, Michigan from stenosis of pelvic and stomach); and Alma (died in 1940 at age 45 in Flint, Michigan from carcinoma).

FYI. your memorial is a dupe of one created on 3/31/2013. It has the obit & family links!

His mother Mercy and my 3rd grandmother were sisters, making him a cousin but I dint think that would count. As of yet I have not connected with anyone directly from him.

You are very welcome. Having the plot location always helps! Don

Thanks for the military info on Edward. Since you are interested in the civil war did you know most of the Michigan Calvary did not ride horses but only had mules? Jan
