Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born May 1, 1959, in Mt Clemons, Michigan.

My Parents;
Donald Oberlin
Myrtle Oliver Oberlin

On February 14 1998 I married Michael Smarr, my childhood sweetheart. He has been my soulmate and has been with me through the Great and the Hard times, ever by my side.

In Oct 2006 I was diagnosed with terminal Breast Cancer and told I had two years to live.

In 2007 my son got married, and they have given us two of the most precious granddaughters.

In 2010 my sister Carol Oberlin Fortin and I found we both enjoyed geneology, so we started putting our family up on Find A Grave.

Now my Granddaughters will have a permenant record of their family.

The Lord has truely Bessed Me. It is now June 2012, It has been a struggle but worth every minute.

As we travel we find and enter cemeteries, so if I have your family member, no matter how far up the tree, please ask for the memorial, and if its not our family I would be honored to transfer it to you.

May God Bless you, Janice

My memorial:
Janice Oberlin Smarr

Memorial #141886388
I sent you some information about Lucretia M. (GAMMELL) ROBINSON (via the edit button on Memorial #141886388). I also posted photos of her grave. I did not know before I went to the cemetery that you had posted a photo request on this memorial and someone else had already claimed it, so I won't get credit for fulfilling that request. However, I did uncover two marked but unidentified brick ledgers in the lot.

As far as Frank GAMMELL's grave marker, not only does the authorizing relative not have to be a direct descendant, they don't even have to be a collateral descendant. It doesn't matter how distant or indirect the kinship is - it can even be by marriage. The VA doesn't care and does not require documentation, only that the authorizing individual has some connection to the soldier. Your friend who is kin to this GAMMELL family is qualified to authorize the application.

Thanks! - John

Thanks for your reply. I am interested in communicating with your friend. The reason is that Frank GAMMELL's grave at Linwood is unmarked. He served in the Confederate army and is eligible for a grave marker from the Veterans Administration. But in order to apply, I have to have authorization from a relative. I'd like to find out if your friend would be willing to authorize the application, if I'm able to confirm the family connection. The VA pays for the grave marker and shipment, the marker would be received and held by the city Sexton at her office at Riverdale Cemetery until we're ready to place it at Linwood, and volunteers would erect it at the gravesite. I have successfully applied for over 20 of these in the Columbus area and have other applications currently pending. Could you ask your friend to contact me, either on FindAGrave or by email - my address is Thanks! - John

Memorial #33973937
Hi - thank you for letting me know about the duplication. I have done away with my memorial for Arabella. You have posted some good research on her - thanks for updating the original memorial. Are you kin to her? I am looking for anyone who is researching or may be kin to the family of Francis M. "Frank" GAMMELL who married 1859 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Frances "Fannie" McGEHEE - they are also buried at Linwood Cemetery. Records I have seen on show Frank to be the son of Ayres & Eleanor "Nellie" (GEMMICK) GAMMELL. Ayres is said to be the brother of James GAMMELL who married Elizabeth THOMPSON. Their son Abraham GAMMELL married 1840 in Upson County, Georgia, to Mary Ann RAY, and I believe this couple were living in Muscogee County, Georgia, in 1850, with Jeremiah GAMMELL (aged 19 years) in their household - he is evidently the man who married Arabella REYNOLDS. Thanks - John

Jane Jennie Crabb Heglon
I have been looking for Jennie Crabb's burial site and see you have included it in "Hawley Cemetery", but no date of death.

Most of her family is buried in Walnut Grove Cem. in Hawley..

Was there an index where you found that Jennie was buried in Hawley Cemetery? I would love to know for my records.

Thank you so much for listing all these family names and for all the work you do on "Find A Grave"

There is a photo on Grandpa Fred's Memorial from 1943 is that the same one you have?
Grandmothers is not my site, it was created by a person from the findagrave so I can only delete photos I've submitted which I did delete one photo but you'd have to request the person who created to adjust the number of photos on that site.
Would you please email me the photo of my grandmother with granddad Carter?
