On February 14 1998 I married Michael Smarr, my childhood sweetheart. He has been my soulmate and has been with me through the Great and the Hard times, ever by my side.
In Oct 2006 I was diagnosed with terminal Breast Cancer and told I had two years to live.
In 2007 my son got married, and they have given us two of the most precious granddaughters.
In 2010 my sister Carol Oberlin Fortin and I found we both enjoyed geneology, so we started putting our family up on Find A Grave.
Now my Granddaughters will have a permenant record of their family.
The Lord has truely Bessed Me. It is now June 2012, It has been a struggle but worth every minute.
As we travel we find and enter cemeteries, so if I have your family member, no matter how far up the tree, please ask for the memorial, and if its not our family I would be honored to transfer it to you.
RE: Irene Zack Dear Irene, Hello, I guess we are related. I will tell you what I know and maybe you can fill in the blanks. I believe Irene (Hovance) Zak is my maternal great grandfathers sister. Irene's brother is Prokop Hovance and her sister-in-law was Pauline Prokop. They were both born in Galencia, Austria. Pauline and Prokop (my great grandparents) lived in Wendel, PA. Prokop died on March 20, 1954. Prokop and Pauline had 8 children, one being my grandmother who was Nellie (her real name was Anastasia) but for some reason she went by Nellie. By the way, I spoke to a 2nd cousin of mine (she is the granddaughter of Prokov so Irene would have been her great aunt). She told me that Hovance was not their real name. I think Irene's mother was a Hovance. I was told by my second cousin that the name Hovance used to be one of the following Hovanitz, Chovenetz, or Choventiecz. I hope that all makes sense.
As I said, my name is Kelly and I am the great grand niece of Irene. Do you know if Nazary's name was John of if he went by the name John? Can I somehow link the other relatives to this site? By the way, I bear a slight resemblance to Irene. If you want the information let me know. I am still trying to find out where the name Kolenic fits with Irene. My second cousin was going to look at her mothers birth certificate to see if she could find more information. Let me know if I can be of any help to you.
Irene Zack Hello, I am looking for information on Irene Zack. A relative directed me to Irene Zack as being my great grandmothers sister so my great great aunt. So far the information matches such as place of birth and the fact that she is Russian Orthodox. However, the relative told me she married John Zak. She mentioned Kolenic as another name. Can anyone help me? My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you so much!
RE: G W Smarr Hi Janice, I saw your note about George's wife with the original photo request before going to the cemetery and did look for her marker, on two different days. I went through the entire cemetery pretty thoroughly and didn't find it.
However, that doesn't mean she's not buried there. There are no markers at all immediately in front of or on either side of his (Westfalls and Fitzpatricks in the row behind). The space itself probably indicates graves in this very old cemetery; it's just not clear whose.
There are several fieldstones without inscriptions (unmarked or weathered away) around James Norman that appear to be part of his family. Closer to George, the only unknowns found are two old handcarved domed tablets under a tree. Both appear to be older than the time period in question, if she died after 1900. One has no inscription left at all and the other has a faint partial that appears to read: I ARN DIED IN 1854
I made an entry for this unknown; if you look at the wider view image you can barely see the bottom corner of George Smarr's headstone.
I took a good many photos of the area around George's marker and that section of the cemetery. If you'd like one or more added to his memorial to show a longer view, let me know.
Also if you'd like contact info for the caretakers, I can email it; they would know more about this cemetery.
RE: James Griffin Thanks, Janice. It sounds like I am related to your neighbor. If they are interested in contacting me, please pass along my email address (email@example.com). James Griffin's grandmother was Elizabeth Shadrack, who was the sister of my great grandfather Oliver Shadrack. I would love to share stories and/or compare DNA with someone in the Shadrack family as I don't know if Oliver was adopted or not. I don't know much about that side of the family. Thanks again! Colyn
