Bio

I have always been interested in my family history and geography. I am Chumash, Yaqui, Mi'kmaq, Scots, Irish, English, Hispanic, Basque, French, Italian, Portuguese and German, as you can see really an American! Most of my family came to this continent (Canada, USA, Mexico) before the American Revolution from Europe although I have indigenous ties on both sides; a North East tribe on my maternal side, South West and Coastal tribes on my paternal side although many generations back.
I am interested in religion since I have found ancestors disinherited for being Catholic or Protestant and I try to find the reason why. I have one grand-parent on both sides that is Catholic and one on both sides that is Protestant. (same with my parents and my sister is now Buddhist)
I am also interested in Politics as it relates to my family history as members of my family get in hard-core debates over the subject. My maternal family democrat; while my paternal family republican. I have politicians on both sides. A common thread is my extended family seem passionate about their causes, whatever that may be.
I have a mixture of Union and Confederate ancestors; and loyalist and patriot ancestors; Mexican (I mean California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas before they were states) and American ancestors; studying ancestors on different sides of history and learning from it is really fascinating.
*I have always been looking for my roots.
*I am an avid History buff.
*I love a good mystery
*I enjoy putting puzzles together.
*If it wasn't for my dyslexia I probably would have gone into some sort of research field.
*I am a breast cancer survivor.
