I am a HUGE fan of history, and I honestly believe that every person on this Earth has an interesting story to tell.
My grandfather, Walter Fischer, Jr., was a Marine during World War II. He was one of the Marines that helped to capture Leyte Island and was on the shore when General Douglas MacArthur made his famous return to the Philippines. In fact, there is currently a 10-part miniseries on HBO right now that was written about his mission on Leyte called "The Pacific". He was my hero and he had a million fascinating stories that any fan of U.S. history would have paid to listen to. Sadly, he passed away on November 29, 2008. I would NEVER want to allow him to be forgotten, for he changed a lot of peoples' lives. That's why I began contributing to this website.
I know there are people out there who feel the same way about their family members, so I'd like to help them out as much as I can.
