I have lived in Lampasas for 30 years and am married to a man who is from here. I have only recently become interested in family history and really like the Find-A-Grave site. I plan on adding obits and other information to the sites I manage as I get the information and offering obits to others for those who already have memorial sites. I am researching the Lilley, Parks, Langston, Wynn, Haralson and associated families. I am glad to transfer sites to those who have a special interest in them. Just let me know.
RE: Maggie W. Johnson Yes, you did good. I did find it strange that she is buried alone as the only Johnson at Cedar Lawn Haven while the Columbia cemetery on the other side of town is full of Johnson family. Maybe she was the black sheep of the family, or it is a different set of Johnson.
I didn't know about the Columbia cemetery. On my next trip out there I'll have to check it out.
No thanks on the transfer. Laura is unrelated to me, since she is Laura Virginia Gant's daughter, Isaac's third wife. She is interesting though. Isaac's second wife, Frances Ann Lloyd was my grandmother's great aunt. Laura Hill interests me however. Two census enumerations indicate she was a writer (short stories). By 1940 she had been committed to the Austin State Hospital, presumably due to her schizophenia. It was the activation of her TB that got her transfered to the San Antonio TB Sanitarium.
I have a letter my g2 grandfather wrote in 1846 which notes Frances Lloyd's marriage to Isaac Hill in Austin County, and their subsequent move to Fayette County, west of the Colorado River. Laura Hill's death certificate indicates her home of record as Fayette County.
