Bio and Links
Bio Photo I don't want to know EVERY ancestor, just the next one in line. Three of my grandparents were from Tuscaloosa County, Alabama (Herren, Deese, Shirley) and one was from Walker County, Alabama (Sparks) I have done a lot of work on these lines. We currently live in Giles County, Tennessee and since retirement, I am actually able to go out and photograph cemeteries.

I am putting together a virtual cemetery for all the Shirley Family descendants connected with Tuscaloosa County. If you have someone connected with the Shirleys please contact me.

If you have a connection with my lines please contact me.

Simeon Freeman
Simeon Freeman is my great, great, grandfather. My line is:
Homer Howard Freeman-father
William Jerome Freeman-grandfather
Isham A. Freeman-great-grandfather
Simeon Freeman-great-great-grandfather

I have information on Simeon's second wife (Chism) being in the Shirley family and know where they are buried along with Elizabeth Prescott Freeman who was Simeon's first wife. I would like to know if you have any information that possibly Simeon would have had in his belonging when he passed away that shows his middle name or anything about siblings or prior marriage to Elizabeth? Could you please contact me at I tried to send you a private message, but apparently my system here at work does not allow me to do so. Thanks for any light that you can shine on my ancestors. If you have any pictures of Simeon and the Chism (Shirley) lady I would love to have copies of them even if they are scanned. Thanks again!

Lilian Sparks Cates Maddox
Thanks for adding Lillian's information. My husband is the great grandson of her husband David Ellis Maddox. Had we not came across this we would have never found where "Red" or Ellis as we know him was laid to rest. The daughters of Ellis (my husbands grandmother) have been informed and are grateful to know where he is buried now. Im curious to know if there are any other children of his but we are now able to research more.

Thanks again we truly appreciate it!!

Toodie Gray
Calvin Shirley
The obit for him says 49 years old and died 1975 so that would make his birth 1926 like the tombstone says. But yes, the SS death index does say 1924.SO how can we prove which is right unless we get a death certificate? And I don't want to go to the expense. He was my husband's uncle

You have date of birth as 1924 in the written part but the tombstone says 1926. Which is right?

J T Shirley
Hi Mr. Kennybob,
I was wondering if you had any information on J T Shirley, Find A Grave Memorial# 34958993? He was married to Enza and Mary Hamilton. I am trying to find his parents. If his parents are Bolden and Brazzie Shirley, then the censuses are very confusing. Thank you, T.G.

Thomas Bigham
Memorial# 111593808
Mr. Kennybob, I was hoping you would transfer Memorial# 111593808 to me. Elizabeth is my 3Xgreat grandmother. She was the wife of John Acie Bigham. One of her sons is George Dock Bigham, the outlaw, and my Great-Great grandfather. George Docks was the father of George Edward Bigham, husband of Mary Swindle.

Memorial# 111597994
Mr. Kennybob, I was hoping you would transfer Memorial# 111597994 to me. Cleddie would have been my great uncle. My line runs George, Clarence D, Larry Wayne, Thomas (me). Also I have a Robert Lee Shirley in my line married to Lillie Adaline Bigham, all from Tuscaloosa County. Could this be a connection to your tree?
