THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

RE: messages & emails
It's all good. Thanks for the transfers. I put the wrong Find A Grave#s in the messages and corrected them in the email. So it all worked out. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you so much for taking the photos of the Brady and Dales graves. It was nice of you to add the additional pictures showing the general area as well. So kind of you to take the time and go through the trouble for me. Much appreciated.

Anna E Butler, 136293680
You should probably get an "assist" for helping to add Anna to the Fairhaven Cemetery listing. With your information I figured out who she is. Alma Ketchell's first husband was Albert Hamilton. They had one daughter named Dorothy. Dorothy married Edward Butler. Edward's mother was Anna Butler.

Why they are buried side by side I have no idea. Perhaps it is just as simple as there was an unused grave site available. Dorothy and Edward moved to Arizona are buried there. But at any rate, thanks for helping supply an additional missing link by taking the wider view picture of Alma's gravesite.

I added Anna's grave to the cemetery - see the findagrave number in the title.

Thanks for the information. Never heard of her, but the family name right beside of Alma's grave means she is probably a relative. What were the birth and death years?

Recently you took a picture for me of the grave of Alma Ketchell. As I thought my mother-in-law was very happy to see where her aunt Alma was buried.

Looking at one of the pictures you made I saw beside Alma's grave was the grave of a Butler. Alma's first husband was Albert Butler and he and Alma are buried in Arizona. They had one child that we know of whose name was Mark. But we have no idea what happened to him. Unfortunately the resolution of your picture on findagrave is of lower resolution (as they require) and I can not make out the first name and dates for the Butler buried beside Alma. Perhaps your original photograph is of higher resolution and you could make out the first name and dates?

Thanks so much for your help. It is a long way from Wisconsin to California.
