THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

"Sorry for the goof up, for Everett Alvan Rea" I hit the wrong key.
This is the correct name.

Thank you for the photo you took. My mom is asking if there is anyway you could take another photo from afar. My great grandmother is in her last months and my family wants to let her see his gravesite one more time since she can no longer travel. From what I understand, they are telling me it's a rather large/tall stone structure. Would that be possible of you to do for us? We would all greatly appreciate it! Thank you

Thank you very much for taking the time to locate and take the pictures of their graves. My grandparents moved back to the Midwest and we never knew what they looked like. It is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking for other Rothenbergers; I appreciate your time and efforts.
Is it OK with you if I use one of your headstone photos in my Ancestry tree? Thanks.

Thank you for the tombstone photograph on Golda! She was a missing link in our Cook family tree!
