THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thank you very much for your pictures of the grave markers for Earl and Dennis Tanner. It took me a while to find the locations, and it is very gratifying to now have pictures of their graves. Your service is very much appreciated. Best wishes,

Transfer & thank you
Hello again,
Thank you for your generosity in transferring:
Ella Blanche Coones Ackerman # 156929936
to my care. With your help, I have successfully connected her with her parents, five of her seven siblings, and soon, I hope, to her husband. As I receive more information, I will be adding it to Our shared memorial.
With sincerest appreciation,
Marcia

RE: Santa Ana Cemetery Grave
Yes that was me. I just moved my car to another section on the opposite side of the cemetery to pickup a few more Spanish American War graves.

I've walked by Fred Lutz's grave marker a few times in the past and just didn't read the bottom of his marker for his military service. When I couldn't find it where Billion Graves showed, I figured that he might be in an adjacent section corners, then the light blub went on when I saw the upright Civil War Marker for G. Lutz when I was crossing the street.
