Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Would you mind if I use your photo of her headstone for my family tree?

RE: Elmer Flingstrom
Thanks. Still not convinced, since he does not appear with them on the 1900 census and only the younger son does, which would make no sense if he belonged with that family and was a few years older than the son who is listed. Also the mother's surname being shown as Larson on other records (not Ellen Pearson). He went by middle name George in real life, not Elmer. (both common names in that surname line). Also appears none of them went to California, so odd that only he would go (but not impossible). Further research ongoing before I link them on Find A Grave, want to find more supporting evidence. Thinking they might have been his aunt and uncle, not parents.

Cornelia Robinson
Thank you for transcribing and documenting this cemetery. I've been looking for Cornelia and finally able to start connecting her to her family. Thank you for taking the great photo and being a Find A Grave volunteer.

RE: Elmer Flingstrom
I don't think the family/parents you are probably loooking at in Minnesota is the correct one for this Elmer George Fingstrom. That entire family stayed in Minnesota and died there. Elmer George was living in Los Angeles CA by the 1930 census. The 1900 census in Minneapolis, MN for Andrew "Flinkstrom" and wife Ellen (Pearson) does not list a son named George or Elmer, only a son Ernest Alfred. The WWI Draft Registration Card on my Elmer George Flingstrom confirms his birth date as 21 Sept 1894, so he would be listed on the 1900 census if he was part of that family. Wrong parents/family.
