Colusa and 'Grimes Grand Island' California are my area. Arbuckle, College City, and Meridian are near. I take photos that are clear, easy to read, face on (I don't mind bending over or getting down to ground level), and not a dark shadow. I try to clean the marker first of droppings and debris because I like them to be presentable. If the monument is large I'll take a photo of the whole stone (likely a work of art), one of the inscription, and if there is anything else written on the stone I'll try to capture that also. |
I'm proud of the pictures I upload and it's sad (and really bugs me) to see some of the photos others submit that are sidways, out of focus, in shadows to dark to read, or have bird poo on them. These grave photos are shared by thousands and should look nice and show the entire monument as well as a close up of the entire inscription in focus and easy to read.
Although it is very much appreciated that a volunteer has taken time to take a photo (because something is better than nothing) it should be done well. Should there be a memorial photo taken in my area that you cannot read, see clearly or not happy with and would like a re-take, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Keep in mind however that some stones have calcium build up, are worn away, or may be in need of some restoration or serious cleaning; but clarity, focus, angle, and lighting are easy fixes.
It's not the number, it's the quality.
If I created or manintain a memorial of someone whom you are related to, let's talk. Should you be a better fit to maintain that memorial page, I will be happy to transfer. If you just have the parents or sibling name and/or numbers and no other information, let me know and I'll gladly update the page.

I appreciate your message on taking photos. It's frustrating to see those unreadable dark photos or those with inscriptions not noted along with the picture. You are spot on with your message. thanks again. P

Happy to transfer your family members to your care. Ann was a lovely lady ... and was of great help in getting past historical narrative of "old" days in Durham! Best regards, Adriana

You are very welcome. It was my privilege and honor to photograph his tombstone. I am sorry for your loss. Do you know if the two Moore's next to his are related? I noticed they do not have memorials on Find A Grave. I will add them to the website.
|Tom Brocher||Lionell Louis Meade|
I've linked Lionell to his parents based on the flower you left for him. Thanks for leaving the flower!

Did you create the above cemetery in Find A Grave? Find A Grave has a cemetery listed as Grand Island which is located in Grimes. This one matches the Colusa Cemetery Listing book.

Hey... Good work. What would we all do without folks like you!! Keep at it!!
|Linda Hastings||Lydia Shoemaker|
Thank you so much for the photo of the unmarked grave of Lydia Shoemaker. Thank you also for taking the extra time and effort to search the cemetery records. You definitely went the extra mile for me.

Hello Belinda: I apologize for the photo, as I have tried to explain in my personal Find A Grave Bio.. I am pleased, however, that those that I messed up can still be reproduced by clicking on the the larger image. After taking the number of photos over the years, most blurred are few in number, thankfully, to the total number taken. Inasmuch as this is a relative, I am transferring the memorial to you. I trust this will be OK. Have a good day.
I see you have the memorials for the Londagin's in Arkansas and the Clifton's in Washington. My great-grandfather, William N. Hutton married Sarah Ellen Londagin and they are both buried in the Roy Cemetery, Pierce County, Washington. I see you also have the memorials for the Clifton's in the Roy Cemetery.
I have attached Sarah Ellen to William H. Londagin and Margaret Mitchell so you may see her name attached as one of their children on your memorial. At least it appears as such on mine.
I am trying to find anything I can on William N. Hutton's father, Meredith Hutton. If anyone knows anything of him, I would appreciate any information. I have very little and am no where near Arkansas, Alabama or Tennessee which is the information I have as to where he was born and raised.
Again, any help is appreciated.
|Monte Duran||Transfer of Peter Biscaro|
Thank you so very much for the quick transfer of my great uncle Peter Biscaro. I have added all the information I have for him to the memorial and linked him to his family.
I have also deleted the other memorial that I had for him. Thank you again for taking the most beautiful photograph of his headstone! The family sure appreciates all your work on findagrave.
Best wishes to you, Monte Duran
