Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am glad to transfer memorials to anyone who has more information about the deceased than I do or is more directly related to the person than I. However, I would appreciate a request through the "Suggest a correction..." function on the memorial page. In it, write something like "Please transfer because {insert your reason here blah, blah - whatever you want to tell me.} That makes it so much easier for me because the system generates and sends an email to me with direct links to the memorial, making it SO much easier for me to handle your request. NOTE: I probably won't transfer to anyone who has been a member of findagrave for less than 6 months. Why? Because I've found some folks will sign up, quickly request transfers of all their family members, then get bored and don't make corrections after the newness of the site has worn off.

If you don't understand "Suggest a Correction", also referred to as "SAC", see this short video: How and Why to use the "Suggest a Correction" feature.

After a few years of just using the site for my research, I've decided to spend some of my spare time "paying it forward".

If you're like me and have been able to tie up loose ends in your genealogy using this site, please help out by contributing information whenever you can.

I live in Arab, Marshall Co., Alabama, was a lawyer once, and am now a critical care nurse.

TVA: If you're interested in knowing what graves were moved by TVA while building the dams and lakes, see this database and read this article "Drowned towns" (Some graves were not moved, but left to be covered in the water, by the way.)

Side note: If I add any information other than what is shown on the marker, I try to remember to include the actual transcription on the memorial. Since I didn't do that when I first started, not all of my memorials include that info.

An example of how you can add a ton of useful information to a memorial using HTML code: My Dad's memorial.

The Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance is a great resource.

Check out the Facebook Page I manage for the Arab Historical Society.

There is a Lester Reeves that is buried next to her. Not sure the connection, but placed in one of the pictures.

Barry Jernigan
Jernigan-Stephens connection?
Frank or Frankie Jernigan married Mary Stephens on 1 Nov 1929 in Marshall Co, AL. He said he was 22 and she said she was 19. The envelope said, "Returned not Executed" so apparently it was not approved, possibly because he was actually only about 18 or 19 and didn't have his dad's permission. Frank or Frankie was probably the same as my grandfather who lived in New Castle, Jefferson Co, AL most of his life. His dad was Franklin Henry "Frank" or "F.H." Jernigan -- my great-grandfather. HIS dad (and my great-great grandfather) was Rev. James Silas Jernigan, a founding member of New Friendship Baptist Church, along with his wife (my gg-grandmother), Mary Jane Bodine. My actual Y-chromosome is Chandler not Jernigan. Thanks for posting the info about Mary Stephens and Rosco Dock Summerlin. I think she may be the same Mary Stephens who ALMOST became my grandmother. ;-)

Sandifer
Next to Safford Sandifer is a stone that says Sandifer... Loving Mothers ad Sisters. Lou Ann Duncan 1945-2009 and Eunice Gore 1950-Dec 26, 2011. Not sure how they are connected to him. Do not see them as siblings. Do you have a contact that might know.

This is the grave of my uncle. I sent an edit for the spelling of his name to be changed to Safford from Sanford. It was changed to Sanfford. His name was Safford. I do not know why the inscription reads Sanford, but it is not correct. Can you make the change on findagrave?

Hi Johnny,
Margaret was my great uncle's first wife. I have a photo of her on his memorial. I'll speak with my mom and see if I can get more information for her bio. You may transfer to me if you don't have a direct link. I didn't know her because she passed on at such a young age. I knew his second wife; she preceded him as well, and a third whom survived him. Thank you. Sandy
