Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am glad to transfer memorials to anyone who has more information about the deceased than I do or is more directly related to the person than I. However, I would appreciate a request through the "Suggest a correction..." function on the memorial page. In it, write something like "Please transfer because {insert your reason here blah, blah - whatever you want to tell me.} That makes it so much easier for me because the system generates and sends an email to me with direct links to the memorial, making it SO much easier for me to handle your request. NOTE: I probably won't transfer to anyone who has been a member of findagrave for less than 6 months. Why? Because I've found some folks will sign up, quickly request transfers of all their family members, then get bored and don't make corrections after the newness of the site has worn off.

If you don't understand "Suggest a Correction", also referred to as "SAC", see this short video: How and Why to use the "Suggest a Correction" feature.

After a few years of just using the site for my research, I've decided to spend some of my spare time "paying it forward".

If you're like me and have been able to tie up loose ends in your genealogy using this site, please help out by contributing information whenever you can.

I live in Arab, Marshall Co., Alabama.

Side note: If I add any information other than what is shown on the marker, I try to remember to include the actual transcription on the memorial. Since I didn't do that when I first started, not all of my memorials include that info.

An example of how you can add a ton of useful information to a memorial using HTML code: My Dad's memorial.

The Alabama Alliance for Cemetery Preservation is a great resource.

Check out the Facebook Page I manage for the Arab Historical Society.

Memorial # 63862710, JBS Clapp, Mt. Olive
First, thank you for your hard work volunteering in Marshall Co., my family's home. It is appreciated by many. One small correction needs attention that I noticed while visiting Mt. Olive Cemetery near Alberville yesterday. The Find A Grave memorial for JBS Clapp at Mt. Olive has his death date as June 6 1885. The book by the Guntersville Historical Society, "Cemetery Records of Marshall County 1773-1968" also gives the 6th as his death date. However, a close examination of the headstone at Mt. Olive says "June the 5th 1885". Probate court records ("Petition of William K. Clapp for the probate of the will of John B.S. Clapp deceased")signed by his father, also give "fifth day of June 1885" as the date of death. Could you please make this correction. Thank you, sincerely, Charles Moore.

Merle D. Fielder wife of James Corby Fielder is not deceased, but very much alive. This memorial needs deleting. I am a relative and we do not want her gone before her time. And I especially do not want her to know about this, she might get her feelings hurt. So the sooner the better. Thanks Marjorie Crews

Henryville Cemetery
FYI.... I had not been back to the cemetery in awhile, so I stopped today on my way to Huntsville. Where alot of the old stones are is still grown up. I did find an old part of the cemetery today in the woods on the outer side of the cemetery. I was a little leary of snakes, but what stones I did find did not have any names that I could read....just sand stones. Trying to confirm old stones from an old cemetery census, but there are probably 15 unmarked stones in those woods, and maybe more around the Starnes/Stearns graves(center part of cemetery) where an old tree was uprooted during the tornado that came through that area.

Mitch Benefield
If I had looked at her memorial first I would have seen that Mitch was her child and Grady her husband. Mitch shares his dad's stone.

Ovalene Benefield
Found this person. Next to her is William Grady and Mitch Leroy Benefield. Did not know if there was a connection but I took pictures anyway. I will have to open a memorial for Leroy. If you want it let me know. It looks like it might me Grady's son and could this be Ovalene's husband and son? Not sure how to make a connection on the memorials.
