I became interested in genealogy several years ago, while attending a family reunion. Someone made the statement "If someone doesn't write this information down, then it's going to be lost". I realized how true that was, so I began my searches. I think "Family" is very important, and sometimes younger generations don't think much about the present time, then later begin to wonder. Of course, after all the info has been gathered, then family members request copies of the info, which I am happy to share.|
Now that I have become aquainted with Find A Grave, I am trying to get as much info and photos added, as possible, to help others locate their loved ones.
If requesting transfers, or asking me to do corrections or additions, please do so, through the edit tab on the memorial you are requesting.

I didn't intentionally create a duplicate. I am sure you have worked hard to help others and as I stated earlier that is commendable. I do a lot of volunteer work for others myself. I didn't mean to disparage your hard work. I simply meant to point out that a week wait to give a chance for the family to be able to make a memorial would be much more considerate of the grief of the surviving family members rather than telling them to delete theirs because you beat them to it. Naturally that would upset me. We haven't even buried him yet. I hope you keep posting, I hope you keep helping. I would just ask you pull in the reins a little and wait to see if the family is posting first.

Ma'am, I am not trying to be rude however, I'm not deleting my memorial. Here is why...This person is not just another add to my collection. He is my brother. I am the genealogist in our family and I wanted to make sure that he was linked to our parents and his son which I cannot do if I am not the manager of the memorial. I understand that you are trying to document for others who are searching and that is commendable however, I think the day after he died is a little quick on the draw and takes away any opportunity for a family member to create and maintain a memorial. I'm suggesting you give it a few weeks before you add to your nearly 12000 posts in order to allow a relative the right to memorialize their loved one.

Good morning Janice-
Type the name in (I usually just put the first initial and the last name, then scroll until I find the one I'm looking for) then select "More Information/Condolences". That will bring up a new page which lists the person's name and death date unless the person was moved there from a different cemetery. Let me know if that works for you.

Just a not in case you have another person you are looking for in Holy Sepulchre. If you click on the "more information" tab, it provides you with the death date.

What would you think if I posted different things on Kenneys and John's grave site. I was ask by you for John's Find a Grave you transfered to you. This shows a lot of disrepect on your part. Donald R. Taylor
I am moving back to Lawrenceville around the first of August

Understood. Since your husband and I are both in the direct line, would you be willing to exchange emails with me? Perhaps we can help each other fill in some branches of our trees.

|Jonalee Young||RE: John Franklin Teel|
I'm sorry, that was old information from another source. I believe John was probably born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, though it is unclear when his parents moved to Kanawha County. The 1840 census of Kanawha lists a Wm Teale family with 3 sons and two daughters. I have no information on the second daughter (under age 5) as she does not appear with Susan in the 1850 census. I am not directly related to the Teel family but grew up with some of their descendants in Kanawha County.

John died January 30, 1918 according to the death certificate. He would have been 15 in the 1850 census. Rockbridge County is still in Virginia. I believe John was born in Kanawha County, West Virginia.
