Bio and Links
Bio Photo I became interested in genealogy several years ago, while attending a family reunion. Someone made the statement "If someone doesn't write this information down, then it's going to be lost". I realized how true that was, so I began my searches. I think "Family" is very important, and sometimes younger generations don't think much about the present time, then later begin to wonder. Of course, after all the info has been gathered, then family members request copies of the info, which I am happy to share.

Now that I have become aquainted with Find A Grave, I am trying to get as much info and photos added, as possible, to help others locate their loved ones.

If requesting transfers, or asking me to do corrections or additions, please do so, through the edit tab on the memorial you are requesting.

RE: Eli Wesley Smith # 35949874
Dear Mam,

I will endeavor to provide any and all I have concerning the memorial in question, Eli Wesley Smith. I have in my possession the only definitive historical geneology of the James Ward Smith Family authored by my GG Uncle Myron Alphonso Smith, compiled from data he searched out between 1915 and up to his passing in 1951. When Eli Wesley was born, the person listed as his mother was dead 26 years before his birth. James Ward Smith died 10 years after he was born at the age of 89. That is what caught my eye about the accuracy of the page.
Here are the Find-a-Grave numbers to research!
James Ward Smith # 12416535
Esther Alderman Smith # 12416524
There son Eli Smith # 8908628

My question to Allen is who was Eli Wesley's father and grandfather.
I have found that there are two distinct Smith families in Washington County and they are not related!! Unless they were born to James Ward Smith and his offspring.

Best Regards
Robert

My great great grandmother was Matilda (Brewer) Purcell who is at the same cemetery. My great grandma is Sadie(Purcell) Patterson at the same cemetery. I started looking into the Brewers but was more focused on finding my Grandfathers siblings. Thanks for letting me know and if you are on ancestry I would be happy to share any info I have but it's much further down the line

Take care
Laurie

I want it to be right so everyone can enjoy photos that are posted. I don't have it saved anymore but I have the hard copy of it. Let me see what I can do. Thanks so much for letting me know!

I visited the cemetery when I went home a few years ago because so much of my family is there. Are you related to the Brewers?

Thanks again,
Laurie
