Bio and Links
Bio Photo Greetings fellow Find A Grave members. I'm Mike Tillinghast and live in Northern Ohio and am working on my family genealogy. I am a direct descendant of Pardon Tillinghast. I am his 11th Generation Great Grandson and the 7th generation on our Tillinghast Family Farm. My fraternal twin brother and I raise cattle and horses.

Also researching other family relatives: Sommers, Gardner, Stacey, Hine, Welch, Hill and Burnham.

I am a photo volunteer for Find A Grave. It is a very good past time and I enjoy "Headstone Hopping" all around Erie and Huron Counties. It is very rewarding to assist families and provide genealogical information. I also enjoy the excitement and satisfaction when I find that elusive headstone I've been looking for after a long challenging search.

Also taking photos of grave sites in area cemeteries for our local Historical Society.

One impressive thing I have observed in every cemetery I have been in is that veterans from the Revolutionary War to the present have veteran markers at their grave sites. As a Navy veteran, I am very pleased that my fellow veterans from all branches are remembered. One of my ongoing local cemetery projects is to obtain grave markers for veterans that do not have one.

My long range intent is to provide photos and/or Memorials for those in area cemeteries who do not have them.

With the exception of my relatives, I will be glad to transfer any memorial. Please feel free to ask.

Otto Tabel

A correction on William. From historical records, William Tabel died, 10-Oct-1934, not the 1939 I had. He was buried 12-Oct- 1943. I do not have the cemetery info. His father was an August Tabel and mother, Holt. I am not sure if that is a last or first name.

Otto Tabel

Otto Tabel, was the son of Wilhelm (William) and Sophia Tabel, who were married in Germany in approx. 1882. They immigrated approx., 1886 and lived in Cleveland OH. Sophia died 3-Jan-1928 and is buried in the East Cleveland Cemetery, according to her death certificate. I do not have accurate records on William, but his death may have been 18-Feb-1939 and buried in West Park Cemetery. Someone would have to verify that.

Otto Tabel was born in 1895 in Ohio. His brother Robert was born in Germany, sister, Emma was born in Germany, sister, Hattie was born in Ohio and sister, Anna, was born in Ohio.

If the birth date for Otto matches what you have then likely this may be the family.

RE: about Otto Tabel

Thanks for the reply. I will try to find the birth dates of children in the Wilhelm and Sophia Tabel family. If the one for Otto matches I will let you know. Don't need to transfer. I am not really sure if related yet.

about Otto Tabel
You have done a terrific job of adding to findagrave.
One you added was for an Otto Tabel. I believe he was the son of Wilhelm and Sophia Tabel, Cleveland OH. I have found them as some possible relation to my grandmother. But not 100% sure. Just the same I have added Sophia Tabel to findagrave. (East Cleveland Cemetery) But cannot find where her husband, Wilhelm or William was buried.

Not sure how he is related. May be a son. Gertrude's husband is buried with her and there is a memorial for him. I'll send the link this evening.

RE: Woods in Wakeman
I looked at the Hayes OH site for obits, it has Helen Mae Gerber as dying on the same day as Helen Kastor, same age. Additionally, it lists Thomas Kastor as her husband, which would make one believe she was indeed born into the Gerber family and married into the Kastor family. Does the funeral home have any record of her burial in Wakeman based on the info I provided from the newspaper obit?

Thanks for all your efforts.

RE: Woods in Wakeman
Mike, I have hit a stumbling block with one of the Wood descendants. Helen Mae Gerber, she died on 23 May 1989. She was attended by the Gerber Funeral Home in Wakeman. Cannot locate her anywhere, her husband was Tom Kastor, she married after 1943. Wish I had more to go on, if time allows and before bad weather sets in see if you can locate her.

Thanks, Ross

Bradford Family Bible
I have an 1877 family bible that I believe belonged to Harlan Page Bradford and his wife Eliza C. Prentiss. It does not include any family data but it does include family portraits. If anybody is interested in scans, please message me.

Mike, how goes it? Has the weather begun to change or is it an Indian Summer? I wanted to get up there but just didn't find the time, soon I hope, before the winter sets in.
