I am doing this for my daughter. She wants to be a History teacher and I though what a better place to start..little did I know it was so addicting!

My grandparents are O.K. "Barney" Phillips and Edna Aline Gregson Phillips, both buried in Union Springs Cemetery, Corrigan, Polk County, Texas. My roots are very deep in East Texas, and I remember lots of fun times in Corrigan.

I however, am a Native Houstonian, born and raised.

My father was born in Seymore, Texas, and was raised in the Houson Heights area. He joined the U.S. Navy as a very young man and served on the U.S. Dixie which was a tender ship in the Korean War. He was a proud of his service to our country and told many stories about his adventures in Japan. I miss his stories.

So all in all, I guess I have roots all over Texas, because it is very rare that I don't recall going to visit Aunts and Uncles from both sides of my family when I was a little girl while on family vacations.
