Family history has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started taking pictures of headstones before we had the luxury of digital cameras---oh my, I am dating myself!! |
As I have explored and stomped cemeteries, now with my digital camera, I am working to refine some initial photos. While stomping for family headstones, I have taken pictures of names that have been seen in my genealogy database. In many cases, I have made contact with distant relatives and always enjoy hearing from them.
I am quite happy to share the headstone pictures I have taken. Please feel free to use them at your disgression, as they are there for all to follow the links of their roots. HOWEVER--other photos I have added may not be used or copied without specific approval by the owner...me!

She was a 50-year member and a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. In her 30s, she began playing tennis again, entering for several years local and area tennis tournaments. Two of her most notable victories were the winning of the La Salle County Women’s Singles championship and later along with Leann Hahn, the Quad Cities Women’s Doubles championship. Do you know who is are in the rest of the graves? I am looking for another wife I believe she would of been Christoph's first wife & the mother of my grandfather Conrad. Her name is Anna. I wonder if she is in grave 1 since Margaret is in grave 6. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it!

Thanks for getting back to me. I am so sorry to hear that Margaret has passed. I was so hoping to unite my aunts with a part of their childhood.
I heard back from the LaSalle Library today & they stated that the father of John & William Koenig (Christoph or Christopher) is buried in Oakwood cemetery also. I did make a memorial for him & his daughter Anna Martha who is buried in the same plot. There is also a Margaret who I believe to be a wife & a George Martin (son) also buried in the same plot. They didn't give me plot numbers though.
Do you know if John Koenig & William Koenig had different mothers? I believe Louise Kielter Koenig was married to William first then married the brother John after Williams death.
I'm sorry, I am flooding you will all these questions, just trying to make sense of the family & I thought maybe you would know because you manage the memorials.
Thanks for your help!

|Paula D.||Lois Koenig Laio|
I am not sure if you are somehow related to the Koenig family, but I have been researching the maternal side of my family & I thank you for making my research a little easier by having the grave sights documented. I have posted a photo of the 3 Koenig sisters together on Lois memorial that my family had. I believe the girls are from L-R: Elizabeth "Betty", Margaret, & Lois. Do you know if Margaret is still living? My mother as well as my aunts would love to contact her if in fact she is, I believe she would be around 88 years old.
I have been searching for the burial sight of Christoph & Anna Koenig who are the parents of John Koenig. I didn't know if you had any idea of where they are. I contacted the LaSalle Library for information & is waiting to hear back from them. I would appreciate any additional information you may have.

Thanks for adding Helen's link to her father's memorial. The link to her mother didn't take apparently.
