I've been researching my families for approximately 30 years. Currently, I'm trying to scan & share a large collection of old family photographs and documents that have come to me from various relatives, mostly my late grandmother.|
As I scan & prepare the photographs, I'm trying to post as many as possible to findagrave for others to enjoy. Especially the very old ones. Some that are labeled are not of known family connections so I'm also researching the names in an attempt to identify them.
One that I am very proud of is Jesse Elton McEwen, buried at Palms Woodland Cemetery, Miami-Dade Co FL. It took a fair amount of research to figure out that he is probably not related, but simply a neighbor of an ancestor in Carroll Co GA. I've created a memorial for him with the information I collected. Please visit his site and show him some love.
Another memorial that I'm very proud of is for my ancestor, William Francis Marion Nobles, who died as a prisoner of war at Camp Douglas IL. His final resting place is Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co IL. Please visit him also.
I hope you enjoy visiting my paternal great grandfather, Hilborn Whit Hulsey. My maternal grandfather, Rev Virgil Sizemore, preached his funeral before there was a family connection. My parents were only 10 years old and I don't think they met until a few years later. If you know any of the people mentioned that aren't linked, please let me know.
Surnames I'm connected to include: Ashworth, Barnett, Beam, Black, Burks, Cates, Clore, Crow, Dickson, Dunson, Gilbert, Hendrix, Hulsey, Leathers, Lowe, Lyle, McBrayer, McGlathery, Meadors, Mobley, Mote/Motte, Nobles, Pate, Parr, Pinson, Reid, Sanders, Sizemore, Stanford, Steele, Stephens, Tomme, Vining, Waldrop, Williams, and others.
Places I'm particularly connected to include: Laurens Co SC, Henry & Clayton Co GA, Carroll & Haralson Co GA, and Cullman Co AL.
My collection of genealogy books includes some on county cemeteries. As time permits, I'll be adding memorials to FAG.

Well, my info's not as good as hoped. ;) Turns out Bessie was not a widow 'Bessie Dunn.' I went back and checked records and Dunn has to be her maiden name (the Bessie Dunn I had him marrying turned out to be a black woman--I should know better than to trust the family trees on the ancestry site without checking the docs for myself). Thanks for the heads up on that.
Duke Haynie is indeed a puzzle. If he was the son of WCHulsey as the census reports, it wasn't by Bessie as she died in 1903. If he were the son of Hulsey and a second wife, you'd expect the last name Hulsey again. If he were an adopted son, you'd still expect a legal name change to Hulsey. Which leaves me to wonder if he was the son of a woman last name Haynie, fathered by WCHulsey outside of wedlock?
I'll do some more looking around and see if I can find anything.
|Pat Baker||Jeroline Hulsey Gaston & Jewel Taylor Bakr|
Thanks for trying - I was up late last night trying to figure it out. I'm thinking the common family name on both sides is Dunn. Jewel's grandmother was Martha C Dunn of Alabama (1880-1910, later of Cross Cty, AR). Jerolyn's uncle Wm C Hulsey of Arkansas (1870-1960) married a widow named Elizabeth "Bessie" Dunn (1879-1903). But I can't connect the two Dunn women, really. Ah well...
|Pat Baker||Her relationship to Jesse Jewel Taylor Baker?|
Hi Debbie, thanks for all your hard work on here. I've been doing genealogical research on our family tree for about a year and a half now, and have been going through my deceased MIL's old photos since discovering them this past last year. I remember meeting Jeroline Gaston several times when she'd come visit my husband's family in Richardson (his mom, Jewell Taylor Baker, referred to Jeroline as a "cousin" and she was close to her). Jeroline was a marvelous, interesting lady.
I'm trying to track their exact relationship, though, as I can't seem to place Hulsey or Gaston on the Baker/Taylor family tree. I know Jeroline was the adopted daughter of the Hulseys. But not knowing her birth mother, that still doesn't give me placement on the tree. Hoping you might have some ideas? My MIL's exact name was Jesse Jewel Taylor, born 1928 to Robert Forrest and Lillian Rainey Taylor of Parkin, AR. (Feel free to message me privately if you want.) Thanks in advance...
Thanks, for the birthdate. It has been added.

|Dianne||RE: John M Hendrix|
Not sure but many times I get the actually death certificate and the person who transcribed saw it incorrectly or wrote it wrong! Anyway, just wanted you to be aware of that. I was not related so had no other info except the photo I was helping Paul Goodwin enter from Hopewell Cemetery.
