Thank you for the information on mostly Ida May Woolen and I agree with you on her maiden name. I would like to see more on Samuel Barcus. Thank you. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org

I don't know how much information you have on his family. I specifically wanted to verify that his parents were Ira Barcus and Ida Ralston and that their 7 children were George, Lizzie, Samuel, Edith, Dorcas and Frank. Do you know who the 7th child was?

I lived in Indiana and have been doing some research on the Barcus family. It started when I found an obituary for a Mrs. Ira Barcus who died on 3 Jul 1904 and is buried at Hixon or Nixon cemetery in Mecca, Parke, Indiana. I have alot of Parke counties cousins. I found out that Mrs. Ira Barcus was a Ida Barcus and there are family trees on a Ida Woolen who married Ira Barcus and they had several children. The obituary I have said she had 7 children. I also found a death record for her but it says her maiden name was Ralston. Also Ida Woolen Barcus was born in 1856. The obituary for Ida Ralston Barcus says she was 44 and that would make her birth year 1860. Could it be that her mother's maiden name was Ralston? This has to be Ida Woolen Barcus as all children living in Jackson, Parke, Indiana was the children of Ira and Ida Woolen Barcus. Can you shed any light on this. I created a memorial for the Ida that I found and place the obituary I found on it. She is buried in Hixon cemetery in Mecca, Parke, Indiana. Where is Ira buried. Says he died in Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana but cannot find any memorial for him or a death record (1934?). Also found a marriage record about 1895 for a Ida Ralston who married a Roberts in Vigo, Indiana. Also there are 2 or 3 marriages for Ira Barcus (believe they were for a Catherine and a Elizabeth). Looks like Samuel was a child of Ira's and a second or third wife? Saw some Barcus buried at Shepardsville (Shepard's Chapel) and there was a triple stone with Evelyn, Ira and another name but don't think this was Ida's husband. Also Ira Barcus parents were George and Dorcas both born in Ohio. Dorcas was a child of Ira and Ida Woolen Barcus I believe. Her parents were David and Irena Woolen.

Hi cousin Joanne. Memorial Day has created an interest in me to find out more about my relatives on my dad's side of the family. I know Dad, Gene Van Horn, loved Walter. I finally found a book, Conduct Under Fire, that mentions Walter's death. Judy, Donnie's daughter, has asked me again for pictures of her dad. I would love the same of my dad. Do you have any you could share or post?

Since there's no stone for Cora, she will not have a photo at all so hope you can find her grave!
