I am a retired history teacher and president of the Oakwood Cemetery Association. I am also a member of the Friends of Nunda Cemeteries. I am happy to help researchers with photos or other information relating to Oakwood and our other cemeteries.|
The Oakwood Cemetery Association encourages family members and researchers to add Oakwood's gravestones to Find A Grave. We also welcome all the volunteers who fulfill photo requests for our cemetery using the Find A Grave procedures. |Time_angel||RE: John Townsend Photo - Nunda|
Unfortunately I don't recall the source of the John Townsend photo, likely a old atlas / history book. But I am sure there is no copyright remaining on the photo... Best Regards
|CSM||RE: Burgess memorial|
Thanks for posting the photo to the other memorials. Yes, we have additional information on the Burgess family, which we will send to you.

Thanks for the great photo for Abraham and Sarah (Morton) Burgess, our g-g-g-grandparents!
I see that
daughter Louisa B. 1838-1885 #55223817 and
granddaughter Edith 1857-1864 #55223822
are also buried there, and they both have Find-a-grave records.
Could you attach the same photo to their records, please?
If you want, I'll submit a request for both of them.
I will ask the record-keeper to link the records.

thanks you for the nice photo of my grand uncle Clark's grave marker - it shows his wife's name and dates also - very well done.
|Phyllis (Porter) Zegers||Galentines & Straws|
Thanks very much for the great photos of the headstones of the Gallentines and the Straws. They helped me correct some of my data. I really appreciate your quick work.
|Gary Boughton||Julia S. Hand|
Thanks so very much for the photo of Julia's gravestone, it is very much appreciated.
|Elizabeth Davis||Thank you!|
Thanks so much for the lovely photo of Ella Redner Brace's memorial. Since she shares it with her husband, I just did a photo request for him too. You should be able to fulfill that one very easily. :-)
|Robert Uebel||RE: Ottmar Uebel gravemarker|
Thanks again, Tom. Yes, I would like the photo of his wife Nellie's gravemarker as well. I'll create a memorial for her this evening.
My great-uncle Ottmar was a tailor by trade and worked with his father August and brother Oscar in Rochester. He also later worked for Hickey Freeman. An interesting note about his burial location -- he gave up his space in the Uebel family plot at Mt. Hope in Rochester, preferring to be buried with his wife's family in Nunda. I believe there was something of a rift in the family because Uncle Ottmar converted to Catholicism after he married his wife Nellie.
