I've been researching mostly French Canadian ancestry in the Kankakee and Iroquois County area since 1987. I'm currently writing a book about Petite Canada. This was a settlement 2 1/2 miles Northwest of Bourbonnais Illinois along Davis Creek and Kankakee River. Some of the surnames I'm researching are : Audet, Balthazor, Dandurand, Goyette, Benoit, Betourney, Deschampes, Davis, Rantz, Bray, Poutre, Poitras, Moreau, Pelletier, Melancon, Desnoyer, Guay, Yost. You'll notice a few Yankee names in this list. They lived in the same area and intermarried with these Canadians so must be included....
