Ancestry Hi there, No I'm not on Ancestry. Maybe one day but I think I'm going to wait until I go through all the boxes of family pictures and documents I have before I get online. My dad had created a tree on Ancestry. I've talked with them and because I am the executor of his estate I can take over his records. I'll do that once I finish with what I have and then get an account.
RE: Lois Jackson Wow! You did a lot! you & I are 2nd cousins once removed. I am your mother's 2nd cousin. My children are your 3rd cousins. this is how I got that: 1. Our closest mutual relative is George Washington Lowry. 2. my Irl Lowry & your Georgia Awena are the next generation and they are siblings. 3. my Marion and your Zena were 1st cousins 4. I am your mother's 2nd cousin (although I don't know if I've ever met her?) 5. you and my children are 3rd cousins.
When you're reaching across generations (like from me to you) it becomes that generation 'once removed'. Since your mom & I are 2nd cousins - you are one generation down so you and I are 2nd cousins once removed. I guess that's what happens when the Lowrys had so darn many kids over a long period of time! LOL!
I understand Lois and Sharon may be coming up this weekend for a visit. Are you joining them? best, Becky
RE: Lois Jackson If Lois is your mom's aunt and your great aunt then wouldn't I be your mom's generation? here's my connection: 1. me 2. my mom Glenna Marion Lowry Stewart (Lois' 1st cousin because their parents were siblings) 3. my grandfather Irl Roy Lowry (Irl is the brother of Georgia Awena, wasn't she Lois' mom?)
If Lois is your great aunt then you are one generation from me. I would be your mother's 2nd cousin and you & I would be 2nd cousins once removed. If that's right then you would be 3rd cousins to my children. Who is your connection? How was your mom related to Lois? Which of her parents was Lois' sibling?
It's like unraveling a ball of yarn! LOL! On my dad's side I have a great grandfather who married, had several children, his wife died and then he married her sister who raised the children as her own. That gets a bit confusing.
RE: Ann Niblack Hi, I do not believe Ann Niblack married. Her maiden name is on her gravestone, and she is buried by her siblings and some of their spouses and children. Sad that she died so young. Karyn
Georgia Awena Lowry Scherer Hi! are you a relative of Georgia? She was my great Aunt. My grandfather, Irl Roy Lowry, was her younger brother. I have a copy of that picture (full length). I had misidentified it as being Llewellyn's picture but her daughter, Lois Jackson, saw it at my house and told me who it really was.
I just discovered this web site a few days ago & have been adding a few pictures here & there. I added pictures of Georgia's parents a few days ago. best, becky
