Bio

My home is southwest Louisiana. As long as I am able, I will do my best to fulfill photo requests in my "neck of the woods". I grew up in Jefferson Davis Parish and now live in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, LA. There is no place I would rather live unless it is closer to my grandchildren!

In my family, I'm the "picture taker". I've taken photos of headstones and markers of family members for years. I'm fascinated by old headstones, the history they tell, and the occasional vintage photo found there. I'm not really good with recalling dates, so photos are an easy way for me to find them. Also, this site has contributed greatly to my family tree which I just began building recently.

I offered to be a volunteer photographer because I enjoy helping and encouraging others. Providing photos of markers is one small way I can do so.

As I walk through the cemeteries with my friend, who helps me locate the burial plots and crypts, I am constantly touched by thoughts of the large numbers of people who have gone before me, paving the way for my life to be all it is today. The most humbling part is that I only knew a few of these "givers" and most of them did not know me, but they made a difference in the world in which I live. This unexpected and deep sense of gratitude for the contributions that others make in our lives is a much bigger gift than I can ever fully comprehend or pay forward!

Warmly,
Chris (menonnie)
