|Douglas Shuffler||Christine Marie Buehrle Shuffler|
Three years after I met Chris, we were married. I only got to enjoy six years with her but they were the best six years of my life. She was the love of my life. And as I write this, nearly 30 years after her death, I still cry over her. And even now at the age of 63, I know what they mean when they say "True love only comes once". Chris was indeed my once in a lifetime love. That is a powerful statement as while it was eight years after her death before I was even able to date anyone, I did eventually remarry and had two most beautiful daughters that I love so very much. I left my 2nd wife in mid 2008, who I loved but did not love what she had become. But as I think back over my life, there is no doubt about it, when Christine died, my life ended.
I met Chris during Spring of 1978. It was after I pointed her out to a co-worker during breaktime, and told him if I could dream up a most beatiful angel-like girl... that is what she would look like. He asked me if I would like to meet her as he knew her, but I said no. He asked me why not if I thought she was exactly what I pictured as my perfect angel. I told him because I would fall in love and get married.
Some friend! During lunch break, I kept hearing someone calling my name then they said, "Over here." and I found him across the street with Chris, beckoning me to come over. I wouldn't at first, but then finally did. As it turned out, Ken had told her everything I had confided in him and put me in a spot by asking me to tell her the reason I gave him for not wanting to meet her.
I looked at him (probably blushing) and said, "Kennieeeeeeeeeee!!!" He told me he already told her so just tell her the exact words so she will know everything I told her is true. So I did bashfully tell her what I had said. Ken said to her, "See, see, ain't that what I told you?" Chris was also blushing and smiling. That's how I met her in late April 1978.
Chris was still in school but both of her parents readily accepted me and welcomed them into their family. Chris's grades were not all as good as they could be so when I was taking a cruise south in my home-made conversion van and Chris wanted to go along, her parents told her to get her grades up and they would sign permission slips for her to be excused from school for an educational trip that she was required to give a report on when she returned.
Chris got ALL her grades up and we went south, with Chris seeing so many things she had never knew existed. She really got excited to see such a strange creature out the window of a restaurant we were having breakfast at, as she had never seen an armadillo before. We culminated our trip with a visit to Walt Disney World.
Three years after we met, came our wedding day.
A more beautiful bride nor happier guy...
never was... I must say.
And when we had bad moments, as any couple does,
We'd stop and we'd say, let's forget this day
and remember that we're in love.
We did so much together and our lives were filled with fun and it just ain't right that she lost her life... she was only 21.

|Harold Weigle||Damon R. DeHaven Death Date|
According to the obituary attached to Damon's Find A Grave memorial, his date of death should be Jan 17, 2011.
I was wondering the Bemillers in Pennsylvania..are they are desendants of Phillip Bemiller from Germany around 1823.
Phillip is my 4th great grandfather and I heard that he possibly had a brother John that came over also, but stayed on the east coast.
Phillip settled in Butler Ohio.
From what I can gather, ALL the Bemillers in the United States are related.
Thank oyu for your time.
