Bio and Links
Bio Photo Working on the Seaney family history for 40 years. I never stop looking for connections.

In 2005 & 2006 I did a report on the Seaney Cemetery in Crawford Co., Illinois. I surveyed, photographed, uncovered buried headstones, repaired broken headstones and discovered unknown graves. A copy of this report is in the genealogy sections of the libraries in Robinson and Flat Rock. I will be putting the entire cemetery on Find A Grave with photos of each grave so you don't have to travel to Crawford County.

If you also need a map of the cemetery I made several versions showing every stone, unmarked graves and family groups. Just contact me for a copy.

RE: Honor Estep/Esteap Seaney
Yeah, the Estep book gives Thomas these children:

1. Rachel - this one has a baptismal record - and is the only child with Thomas's first wife Delilah.

The rest are by Thomas and Susannah (_______):

1. Honor - not named in will
2. Isaac - married Ruth Moore, named in Thomas's will
3. Milley married William Speer - not named in will and this is a child I am more doubtful for
4. Rebecca - never married, but is the only daughter named in will
5. Sarah, married Lewis Smith. Not named in will
6. Jacob Alexander Estep. My ancestor. settled in Indiana, named in will
7. Abraham - youngest son, also settled in Indiana. gravestone exists so we know he was born in 1776. Named last in will.

Some of these children seem to line up somewhat with what the bible says about Jacob's children, which makes me wonder if Jacob was a mistake, but those names aren't that uncommon so probably not.

RE: Honor Estep/Esteap Seaney
I guess what I was asking is if this bible of Susanna Stanley has ever been printed anywhere or if it still exists and you have seen it so I can point Estep researchers to it.

I am not sure how much you know about the Estep line, but I will quickly explain something - there is a long held belief that Susanna (_____) Estep, wife of Thomas Estep, is a the daughter of William and Honor Holmes, and one piece of evidence they used in the past was that this Honor Estep (the one you are descended from) was given the rare Honor name in honor of Honor Holmes, her supposed 'mother'. It is my belief that there is no proof for Susannah _____ Estep's maiden name at all.

There are a couple of other reasons why it almost certainly not correct - the Holmes bible record as well as those that have seen the will of William Holmes think the supposed 'Susanna' looks more like "Luranah" than Susanna.

Another problem for those that believe she is his daughter (aside from your evidence) is that there appears to be no connection to Thomas in his lifetime. Honor was alive at the time of Thomas's will but goes unmentioned, as do 2 other 'daughters' who are usually said to be Thomas's. One of these supposed daughter's husbands later buys real estate from Thomas Estep's estate though.

Thomas Estep only mentions 4 children in his will and doesn't say anything about any others, though that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't his as he could have already given them his part - Rebecca (never married), Isaac, Jacob (my ancestor) and Abraham.

Honor Estep/Esteap Seaney
Hi Mr Seaney, going through some Estep work and I noticed your note on the memorial for Honor Estep/Esteb Seaney that a bible record shows that her father was not Thomas, but an unplaced Jacob Estep.

I was wondering your source for this info? I believe you, but I cannot really find any reference to it except your memorial.
