I'm a 72-year-old retired teacher with a passion for genealogy. I've been at it since 1998. I retired in December 2005 and in July 2006 was hired by the City of Carlsbad for its Genealogy Division in our local library. Georgina Cole Library ranks among the very top when it comes to California's genealogical collections.

Most of us have sixteen great-great-grandparents. Two of mine were descended from numerous English families who sailed to New England, beginning in the 1630s. The rest of my great-great-grandparents came to America between 1843 and 1872. Five of these came from Sweden, three from Norway, two from Ireland, two from Luxembourg, and two from Canada.
