Bio

I have been doing genealogy for about 40 years. My sister and I have published a series of books: "Orphans Court Proceedings of New Castle County Delaware" (1742-1822 published so far, and working to complete to 1850)with the help of Ed Wright of Colonial Roots, Lewes, Delaware. My maiden name is Deakyne and am connected to other family names, Staats, Collins, Denney, Rothwell, Corrie, Armstrong, Richardson, Fleming, Kinsey, Lockerman, Weldin, Woodkeeper, Walker, Van Pelt, Wilds ...to name a few.

I am also a Staff Genealogist at the National Society of Daughters of the Revolution in Washington, D.C. I would like to make a request of all those wonderful grave photographers and findagrave posters....Please take a photo of your headstones that show legible dates. Many times the headstone shows different dates than what is entered into the findagrave record. I don't know why this is. For DAR standards the only proof of information is the information that is readable on the tombstone. If it can't be read, the headstone cannot be used as proof of information. Thank you for your help.
