Find A Grave Memorial# 127139419 This grave is for Thomas Ing. I take it that the birth and death years are illegible. But do your think that the headstone for Thomas would be as old as the 1850's??? regards Marci
Sibling correction Thank you for accepting my recent edit for Robert Logan Henry (Memorial# 102380428). In looking at the edited memorial, I noticed that Mary Short Henry (Memorial# 102380528)is listed as a "half-sibling" of all of the other Henry siblings.
Mary S. Henry should be listed as a sibling of the other Henry sibs, not a half-sibling. Neither parent had any other marriages or children. They were all the children of Dr. Greenbury & Kate Chambers Henry.
102380528 Mary Short Henry I have been researching the Henry family for 11 years now. As you may have seen, I have just submitted a number of edits to connect the various Henrys to their children/spouses.
Poor Mary Short Henry is a mystery to me. I see that you noted that her grave is next to Dr. George Angus Robertson. He is not her spouse. Dr. Robertson is actually the son of her paternal aunt, Mary Belle Henry Robertson. Mary Short Henry is the daughter of Mary Belle Robertson's brother, Dr. Greenbury Ridgley Henry.
Mary Short Henry is listed in at least 2 family histories as being the wife of George Hager Tonsey. They were married on 21 Dec. 1881 in Burlington IA. (Iowa, Select Marriages Index, 1758-1996, FHL film number 1682871, reference ID 2:3KQX58W) He was originally from Baltimore MD. Both histories say that they moved to Chicago IL, and one states that as of 1894, they were living in Chicago. He turns up in a number of Chicago City Directories but there is never any mention of Mary Short Henry as his wife, or, for that matter, that he ever had a wife!
The fact that she is buried in Burlington, under her maiden name, makes me wonder if they were at some point divorced. He doesn't even show up on any census record. Very strange.
In any event, I thought that I would tell you the story, as I can figure it out so far, of Mary Short Henry. It makes me sad to think that she is there all alone. Silly, right?
Thanks for all the work you have done here! Find-A-Grave is such a treasure trove for the researcher!
