Bio

My original research was regarding a golf course that is no longer around called Bellevue Public Golf Course, Los Angeles, CA, established in 1924 and closed about April 1935. The first professional golfer that was the pro at the course was Charles Burgess Guest, who as noted (FAG) passed away in 1957. I am putting together his family and the families that were primarily involved with this course. My main goal was to obtain photos of the course and so far have not been successful except for an aerial that was obtained by someone else. This golf course after it closed down was utilized as farmland which it was prior before the course was built. Then about 1950 to 1954 became tract neighborhoods of mostly single family homes primarily known as Hollypark, west of Western Avenue, south of Imperial Highway, east of Crenshaw Blvd. and north of 120th Street. The address was 11401 S. Western Avenue, but access was from Bellevue Avenue or today called Imperial Highway (south of Imperial Highway) near today near Van Ness Avenue. The primary person responsible for the establishment of this course was Ralph Clair Noble and leased the property from the Johnson Family who originally built and owned Western Avenue Public Golf Course today known as Chester Washington Golf Course which opened in 1928 about a mile south of Bellevue off of Western Avenue.
