In the course of researching and putting together my family tree, my husband and I have come to realize just how fulfilling it is to have an answer. This site helped us find some of ours. We appreciate the opportunity to help others find theirs. |
My husband is a linguist who has a particular interest in Old German gravestones. He's always willing to help translate if desired.

Thanks so much for the photo of Adam's stone. I think the request has been out for some time now and I haven't done much with my/my wife's genealogy recently that I don't even remember why I wanted the photo any longer. This gives me something to do now. Again, thanks.

Sorry I took so long getting back to you. I actually thought I sent you a msg to let you know I'd go back to the cemetery and take a look when I could, but dont see that msg. So I apologize.
In the mean time, I looked back on some photos that I took farther away at the Mausoleum. Even though I dont have a clear photo, I did zoom in and it appears that Irma is on the left of Vestal and Velma is on the right of Vestal. So, three separate crypts. I updated all the memorials with the proper info and Crypt #'s.
I will be more than happy to send you a photo of all three crypts together. I will though get a much better copy. :)

Thanks for the info. The 1870 census lists her birth in Maryland, but the 1880 census says Pennsylvania. I will look at the census that you found for George to see neighbors, etc. I have not been able to find one for her from 1850 before her marriage to William Stocksdale so maybe this would be a possibility. I have been looking for obituaries for siblings, but so far no luck.
I am trying to determine if my husband's 2nd ggrandmother is the daughter of Jacob Orendorff, #106706256 and Catherine #87111549. I was not sure if you had just taken the pictures posted on FindAGrave, or if these were taken and posted as part of your family genealogy research. I would appreciate your sharing these photos with me and any information you have on other family memebers, if available, including Georgianna Orendorff Stocksdale. Thank you for any help you can provide.
