In the course of researching and putting together my family tree, my husband and I have come to realize just how fulfilling it is to have an answer. This site helped us find some of ours. We appreciate the opportunity to help others find theirs. |
My husband is a linguist who has a particular interest in Old German gravestones. He's always willing to help translate if desired.

|MVE||RE: Isaac Wright|
The parentage and siblings of Isaac Wright (1812-1887) can be found in the History of Frederick County Maryland, Volume 1 by John Chew, in the biography for his son-in-law Reuben Saylor, pgs. 1193-1195. Can be searched on Google Books.
Isaac's father's name is given as William Wright, but this is incorrect; it should be Isaac Wright. "His wife was Elizabeth Cox." "They were the parents of the following children: William, married Nancy Shaw; Ellen became the wife of Henry Harbaugh; Isaac; Mary, married John Nicodemus; Sarah and Caroline, both died without marrying; and George, married Harriet Peterson."

Thank you so much for all the information. You really helped me alot. I am working on trying to match as many Sheely with their family. I agree with what you have found, and I am very grateful for your hard work. I just felt bad, that I thought I had matched them up wrong. I am overwhelmed at how much you found. I know many had more than one wife. Thank you so much again. I am always glad to have help in matching them.

Would it be OK to use your photos of John W. Warner #81575447 and Agnes E. Warner Angell #79471166 on my tree on Ancestry? I am happy to give you photo credit.

|KathiCville||RE: Ethel Bankard|
Hi.......I have my grandmother's obituary from The Hanover Evening Sun (PA), if that would help. It gives her middle name as Marguerite. I remember growing up thinking how much prettier that name was than Ethel! And wondering where her middle name came from.
According to her April 1973 obituary, Ethel Bankard Brown (married to William Ezra Brown) was a daughter of Keener and Carrie Belle Bare Bankard. I remember her talking about going to Bare family reunions over the years. I met Keener ("Great-grandpa Bankard" to me) when I was very young, but I remember him pretty well. I was six when he died in 1964. His first wife, Carrie, died long before I was born. His second wife, Martha/Mary Jane, died just three weeks after I was born in 1958.
In addition to Ethel Brown's obituary, I have the obituaries for Keener (1964), Carrie (1928) and "Mary Jane" (Martha) Bankard (1958), if those would be of any interest or help to you. Happy to send any or all four obituaries.
In case it's useful, both of my grandparents---Ethel and William Brown---are buried at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, where both were members.
Thank you for all your great work!
