"Dear Ancestor"

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

RE: Delia Bunce
From what I can tell, her husband Charles is still alive at the age of 95.

Looks like we are cousins back to the Wheeler in your line. Would love to chat sometime. Not quite sure how to do that...

RE: David & Elizabeth Gull
As you can probably tell from the photo, David's stone was broken and lying flat and the grass is growing around it. I tried to pull some of it back for the photo, but all I could do was uncover a bit of the name Gull. The bottom broken part didn't seem to me that it would ever be readable.

RE: Kevin & Jane Putney
I posted the bench picture to Jane Putney's page. The stone in the background is a Putney family stone.

RE: Wesley Hickson
You are very welcome. I have come to realize as I gain more experience with Find A Grave that as much information that we can provide will help someone with their genealogy, etc. I am very happy to be able to provide the information and pictures. Thank you for welcoming me to Find A Grave. There are some great people on Find A Grave and a few that I wonder where they are coming from. Take care and let me know if I can ever help you out.

RE: Ida Palmer
I am researching family in the Pomona cemetery. I have not found a connection to Ida Palmer. I have no more information. I will let you know if I find anything.

Nancy and Susanna Brown

Any hints you can give me on Susan and Nancy Brown? I looked in the Story County Index for burials and was unable to find either in the index. There were a couple Browns buried in Woodland cemetery but there dates of birth and death didn't match. Any idea who they were married to, daughters of or parents of? Sometimes these help in my search. I'll go out next week to see what I can find.
