Bio

I thoroughly enjoy history and genealogy. I've got family lines in Southern Phelps Co. Mo. that go back as far as the 1850s... these family lines include names such as: Hudgens, Stogsdill, Fore, Jackson, Sally, Huskey, Brown and of course Gabel. I feel it's extremely important to get as much history and genealogy documented as possible! I enjoy restoring old forgotten cemeteries in my area as well as acquiring and setting military monuments in honor of our veterans of the War Between the States. I have also acquired small footstones for forgotten civilians as well. I've restored several cemeteries in the N.W. Dent and Southern Phelps Counties of Missouri areas over the last several years and intend to continue to do so. One of the biggest thrills is to locate a gravestone that's been covered under brush and soil for many years! I am a professional grave dowser, I have located numerous unmarked graves over the years. My friend John L. Harris of the Gen. Sterling Price Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp of St. Louis, Mo. and I have located and documented over 200 Missouri State Guard and/or Confederate soldiers' graves of the Phelps-Dent-Shannon and Texas county areas of Missouri. We also have a list of over 3,000 Mo. State Guard and/or Confederate soldiers of these counties whose graves are not located, buried out of the four county area of study, etc. I co-authored the third & expanded edition of "History of Yancy Mills, Mo" in 2011, in 2014, I published; "Days of Yore" A History of Southern Phelps Co. Mo. 1861-1921, in 2016, I published "Harvest" A Harvest of History of N.W. Dent & Southern Phelps Co. Mo. In 2018, I published; "Whilom," Bygone Days of Southern Phelps Co. Mo. In 2015, I received the Missouri State Genealogical Association (MOSGA) award of merit. In 2020, I published the second & expanded edition of "Days of Yore" A History of Southern Phelps Co. Mo., 1861-1921. Since 2012, another research partner of mine; Michael D. Harris and I have done some hard research primarily on the pro-secession bushwhackers of the War Between the States of Phelps & surrounding counties and their activities from the aforementioned counties to Jacksonport, Arkansas. We hope to see a publication come to fruition in the next few years. I'm a War Between the States re-enactor and past-commander of the Brig. Gen. Edmund Thomas Wingo Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp of Salem, Dent Co. Mo. Whether on foot, in the library or on the road, all this work has been a pleasure, I've met so very many folks as a result of my work that I ordinarily would never have met.
God Bless
