Jean is a retired U.S. History instructor at community colleges in northern California. She published a historical pamphlet about the family of John Brown the abolitionist in California in 2006 and is working on a public history project about them entitled
"Graves Matter." Jean Libby has written and published five books about John Brown the abolitionist since 1979.
