After I saw that you had rejected the suggestion, I went back and checked and realized you were right. Thank you for doing what you did do.

your assistance
You took a grave marker photo of William Jefferson KOON in the "Long-Koon" cemetery. We have a request for an additional grave marker photo, but I can't locate the cemetery. Can you provide me with directions? Thank you. John Panhorst, Prosperity, SC

If you look @ Uncle Willie's page, you'll see I have added the parents. It was strange that I decided to drive thru the cemetery and go out the back way. I was at Cedar Grove for another request. I saw Lybrands and just "knew" they were family. Took pic's, came home, looked them up, and sure enough it was his parents!

RE: Johnson Cemetery
No, that does not help. The fact remains that in the Saluda Cemetery Book, Vol. 1, the Johnson Cemetery is within the Richland Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. That cemetery is at pp. 179-186. There is no separate Johnson Cemetery, and there definitely is not a "Johnsons Cemetery".

RE: Johnson Cemetery
I just went to her memorial and I do not see any change at all. She is still in the "Johnsons Cemetery" as before. All those there should be in the Richland Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, and the burial lot should be noted as "Johnson Cemetery".

Johnson Cemetery
I am posting the rather lengthy summation below as you require a “Public Message” and provide no email address: Please contact me at hc@ouzts.net

Melinda we now have another cemetery problem. This morning I was adding the burial of Lena Mae SMITH Salter who is buried in the Johnson cemetery. She was born in Aiken County. When I went to find this cemetery I found the one in Windsor, Aiken Co. See Below.

“Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.”

When Lena’s spouse, Clayton Tracy Salter died in 2008, he was also said to be “Interment in the Johnson Cemetery.”

As I was working on linking her to family, I noted that you also had added her, but in a Johnsons Cemetery in Saluda Co., SC.

In trying to figure out where she is really buried I went to the Saluda County Cemetery book, Vol. 1, and found the problem.

At p. 184, within of the Richland Springs Baptist Church Cemetery listings, which began at p. 179, I found the following:

“Mr. J. B. Hurt claims there are dozens more graves that were marked with fieldstones and the fieldstones were removed to make mowing easier.”

“This cemetery is on a hill across from the church near the intersection of roads S-41-29 and S-41-211. This is the second church cemetery and is sometimes called the Johnson Cemetery.”

Listed on the 2 ½ pages following the above are included 8 Salter family members and 2 Salters family members. There are 82 burials listed in the Saluda County book after the statement above on these 2 ½ pages. There are now 93 burials there on Find A Grave.

I do not know who posted the “Johnsons Cemetery” below, but adding the “s” to Johnson has added confusion. This is the same situation as we encountered recently in the “Mayson Memorial Cemetery” within the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, also in Saluda County.

Cemetery notes and/or description:
From Highway 78, turn onto Cedar Road. From raised bed where railroad tracks were continue on Cedar Road for 1.5 mile. Turn right onto dirt road; the cemetery is at the end of this dirt road. (This dirt road is before Oakman Ave.; if you reach this you have missed the somewhat obscure dirt road. The dirt road was not passable by car in June 2009 because of low branches, but is an easy walk of probably .5 mile.)

I was trying a while back to get "Fon" edited so she will be on her parents page and I saw you have edits in and still waiting. Elva was my mother's sister. We called her Aunt Elvie. "Fon" lived with us and took care of us for a time when I was a child. Are you connected in some way? Please let me know when these edits go thru. Thanks

RE: Rosalyn West #127111565
Ma'am...as you are fully aware since you added it, Joe Swan West has his own listing #88324843 which also shows a photo added by Jujulynne. There is NO NEED to be able to exactly read the photo I added. The purpose of the photo I added is to show the two markers together. If someone were trying to actually FIND either of these graves, it is misleading to see only an individual marker....THAT is why I added the other photo. The marker for Rosalyn West shown in my photo is EXACTLY as shown in Jujulynne's photo. Between the two photos there is an exact illustration of the marker and how it is situated. End of discussion.
