I have a feeling he is not buried in R.I. if there is a cemetery stone in another state.

Found one. I will e-mail it to you and I sent it on to the member who maintains his memorial and I know she will add it. Seems he was the father of Newton Bateman, State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

|BjJ||RE: Burgen Bateman|
All folks named Bateman who died before 1941 are listed (from cemetery records), and Burgen is the only one in Block 11, 132, which is his plot number. The cemetery office would know if anyone else was in his plot with a different surname, tho, so give them a call. They are open every week day......217/789-2340.

Thanks for the information. This is my great aunt and her granddaughter told me she is in this cemetery but I will find the death record. Just so you don't think I am ignoring your information, I am going to leave her there for now until I get the time in the next few weeks to find the correct cemetery. I know she is in Jacksonville. Thanks so much for all your help.

Curious as to your relationship to the above mentioned individual. My grand fathers first wife was Ada covey from Illinois.
Thank you for your reply when convenient
